Danke für den Gedanken. (2) halt ich auch für gut möglich. (1) ob hier viele an “Volksdemokratie” denken, wäre ich skeptisch. Klar ist aber, dass Menschen unter “Demokratie” untersch. Dinge verstehen. D.h wir messen hier nicht unbedingt Zustimmung zur liberalen + repräsentativen Demokratie

Wir fragen standardmäßig auch immer nach Partizipation, wobei hier 2024 kein Focus drauf lag und es schön wäre, hier auch nochmal tiefer zu bohren

Migrationsskeptische und ethnozentrische Einstellungen steigen ebenfalls weiter. 63% stimmen der Aussage zu, Deutschland sei "in gefährlichem Maße überfremdet". Rechtsextreme Einstellungen bleiben mit 20% auf konstant hohem Niveau. /6

⚠️ Besorgniserregend: Antisemitische Einstellungen nehmen deutlich zu, v.a. sekundärer Antisemitismus (NS-Verharmlosung) - Geschichtsrevisionismus scheint zu verfangen. Aber seit dem Gaza-Krieg steigt auch der israelbezogener Antisemitismus auf mittlerweile 30%. /5

Bzgl. Vertrauen in Gerichte + Polizei zeigen unsere Langzeitentwicklungen einen erfreulichen u. stabilen Trend. 62% bzw. 74% vertrauen diesen Institutionen. Das ist ein bekanntes Muster aus der Forschung: regulativen Institutionen wird stärker vertraut als parteienstaatlichen /4

Ein Grund ist die schlechte wirtschaftliche Lage, aber auch Abstiegsängste, Gefühle der Benachteiligung, mangelnde Responsivität der Politik und die aktuelle Polykrise hängen mit der Demokratieunzufriedenheit zusammen. Hier besteht also großer Handlungsbedarf. /3

🗳️ 88% halten die Demokratie für die beste Staatsform. Aber nur noch 43% sind mit ihrer praktischen Umsetzung zufrieden – ein neuer langjähriger Tiefstwert in unseren Zeitreihen. Das Vertrauen in die Ampel-Regierung lag im September 2024 bei nur 19 % /2

🚨 Gestern wurde unser Thüringen-Monitor 2024 vorgestellt. Was bewegt die Menschen in Thüringen? Die Unterstützung für die Demokratie bleibt hoch – aber die Unzufriedenheit mit ihrer Umsetzung wächst weiter. /1

Thüringer schmunzeln über die Aufregung. Auch auf Landesebene dauert es manchmal länger einen Regierungschef zu wählen, meistens in Thüringen.
Berühmt und berüchtigt sind die Vorkommnisse in SH um Heide Simonis 2005, die in die Wahl von Carstensen im fünften Wahlgang mündeten.

Man muss jetzt gar nicht die AfD rauf und runter interviewen. Man muss auch nicht ohne Not behaupten, dass das auf jeden Fall nur der AfD hilft. Selbsterfüllende Prophezeiungen. Muss man nicht.

Manchmal ist es vllt ganz gut, seinem Ärger einmal Luft zu machen und danach reißt man sich zusammen. Von daher ist so ein Knall am Anfang für den weiteren Koalitionsfrieden vllt ganz heilsam /3

Im Idealfall ist es ein Lerneffekt, dass er Positionen nicht mit der Brechstange gg. die SPD durchsetzen kann u. dass es ihm in seiner Partei nachgetragen wird, wenn CDU-Positionen mir-nichts-dir-nichts über den Haufen geworfen werden. Er also mehr Fingerspitzengefühl braucht /2

Können wir uns wieder alle mal ein bisschen einkriegen bitte. Wenn man mal auf die Landesebene schaut, wie oft bei MP-Wahlen die Mehrheit im 1. WG verfehlt wird, dann ist das eigentlich nix ungewöhnliches. Es ist ein Warnschuss an #Merz /1

Political grievances matter for BSW to some extent, but less so than for AfD. Bottom line: BSW wasn’t a serious threat to the AfD’s voter base – at least not in Thuringia, 2024. 3/3

Short answer: No. AfD voters in Thuringia are deeply rooted in far-right views (cultural conservatism, ethnocentrism, ...). Yet, BSW voters don’t show the same patterns at all 2/3

New article from John Kenny , Lucas Geese , Andrew Jordan and Irene Lorenzoni reviews the usage of climate change questions in public opinion surveys & provides an overview of the types of concepts that can be elicited from these.

While there's some uncertainty, my findings also suggest that conspiracy believers tend to prefer 'anything but' representative democracy, also showing some support towards autocratic models. /6
