LA needs to do this. Our members are overwhelmed w/ cases–sometimes hundreds of cases per attorney. Our misdemeanor attorneys have 200-900 cases depending on the courthouse! Public Defender’s Office has an ethical & constitutional duty to turn down new cases until the staffing shortage is addressed.
