I was 100% wrong in my criticism of Starmer at the weekend over his position on Iran. He has called it correctly. That, in and of itself, makes him a PM of consequence historically. Domestically, he remains terrible (sorry, he does), but internationally he is the best we've had for a long time.

I get the strong sense that the bulk of media are calling Starmer's position on Iran entirely wrongly right now. I simply don't believe that most people out there are either as hawkish as the Tories or as anti-everything as the Greens. Being conflicted in the middle seems about right to me.

What Starmer could say:
I will always put the UK's interests first. I believe a strong relationship with the US is in our interests, so I try to ensure a good relationship with the US President. But if he does not like what I do, so be it. I will always put the UK's interests first.
