We didn’t dress up for World Book Day. But we did (as we do every day) enjoy books. 📚 😁

I had a pupil once - on finishing their maths ask -

“Can we go and enjoy a book now?”

Nurturing a love of reading doesn’t just happen once a year.

It is such a joy to see independent writing developing over the first year of school. Children become writers when they have a desire to write, are taught the tools for writing, feel confident and are given the space to try.

I’m not sure my little learners have grasped the concept of this game, but they are enjoying it. 😂

On World Book Day I’d like simply say that we need more libraries and book swaps. I’d like to see them everywhere. In every community, shopping centre, school, social club. Wherever we go. And they should be stocked with lots of brand new books as well as old ones.
