Starting at 9am is just so early for men in the ceiling

I know there's the whole thing about waiting for repairmen but it is also challenging when they show up an hour early

Pushing through a bad migraine to get things done because my mom's surgery is on Tuesday and I'll be needed for cooking/cleaning, and there are men coming to try to make it not 78-80 F in my bedroom/office tomorrow, I finally opened the embroidery machine I bought in Nov and a large spider ran out,

It's International Women's Day. I'm thinking of the girls who were bombed in their school and all the children who have been hurt, killed, deported.

I would like peace for International Women's Day.

Yeah the difficulty is that for TV use, it has to be wireless. I've got some good wired ones, which are usually my preference. I could swap the earpads on these for glasses reasons, but I think my issue is the ANC, not the fit.

And yeah I had two sound bars before, at the insistence of other people, and despised them both as worse than the built-ins. Didn't keep either for more than a few days.

Yeah these do hit my glasses more than my other headphones. I can't wear anything in-ear because I have weird ear canals. I'm just torn because I'd really have to take them back today if I don't keep them

I have a new TV (in a box for over a year...) but built-in sound is awful/inaudible. I came up with "oh, wireless headphones" because no bandwidth for speaker figuring. But I didn't own any BT headphones, and I find the cabin pressure on these Bose ones... very unpleasant, does it go away

In first-world problems I still super annoyingly have to care about, I may have learned I am one of the rare people who get nausea from active noise canceling in headphones

Pixar’s Pete Docter Says Queer β€˜Elio’ Storyline Was Axed Because β€œWe’re Making A Movie, Not Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars Of Therapy” Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter explained the animation company's decision to ax a queer storyline in last year's Elio.

If you're a powerful creative person, a moment will always arrive when you can do something a little brave that will help people, or refuse to. The book I'm working on right now is in part a history of who did what. All I'll say about this is, it never gets forgotten. deadline.com/2026/03/pixa...

We're at a point where there are no cheap options to retreat to and no price points that guarantee quality. Every run-down studio is $1400, every fast food meal is $17, every luxury condo has peel-n-stick tiles, every $300 pair of boots falls apart. Endless expensive mediocrity.

When I told @ajbauer.bsky.social he was a poet, he answered something like "I'm not a poet, the world is poetry, I'm just a journalist reporting on the poetry," which itself is poetry

I've been using an IKEA chair since college as my sewing chair, but the seat got a tear and the foam has been falling out for years (covered with a towel) and the wheels shattered and broke off in tiny pieces so I think it's fair to say a $1k chair for $30 is an upgrade

Guess who's got two thumbs and just snagged a barely-used (but dusty) Hermann Miller Sayl chair for $30 😎

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa)

BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history.
REGINALD: Wow! What's it do?

BEARTATO: It... what?
REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do?

(Beartato thinks.)

BEARTATO: I don't know.

REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do?

EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this!

(The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet)
MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk!

(Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)

The nurse at infusion today was very nice, but the IV hurt enough to make me nauseated (unusual, I thought he blew a vein), and I can't say the side effects have been ideal either. So I'm using "too much pain to sleep" for "apology for not being around"
