Hsj talking about the ten year plan but the nhs say it’s fit for the future but where does learning disabilities fit in the plan oh yeah page 62 we have been forgotten what about now not the future

I can’t wait to speak alongside friends and colleagues sharing a balance of power model and shifting accountability giving people with learning disabilities more power

Yesterday the NHS 10 year plan was published.

Proposals to make healthcare local & preventative are welcome, as are plans to make eye care more accessible.

But it comes without a much needed social care plan & there is no distinct policy for people with learning disabilities, unlike past plans.

Has this government lost the plot why are they disabling people more how can they keep cutting access to work and pip do they really know what there doing do they realise they are disabling further from society instead of enabling us

As it takes on a bigger role over the NHS, we urge government to act on health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities, and not to forget the need for community based reforms for eye care – with special schools eye care ready to rollout after a decade of campaigning.

And today’s announcement must not delay reform of social care, which needs its own urgent plan - not least because of the crisis in funding which is set to worsen with the employer NI changes in April.
