Scott Watkin BEM expresses concern about new PIP plans on an orange background.
Scott Watkin BEM says the governmentβs plans to change PIP could take away vital support. βIt scares me to think what my life will look like when the new PIP plans come into placeβ

Disabled people deserve to be listened to.
Some benefit changes will now be consulted on - because cutting support without consultation was wrong.

Scott Watkin BEM, our Head of Engagement warns:
βThe NHS 10 year plan must tackle awful health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and not leave us bottom of the pile...

Yesterday the NHS 10 year plan was published.
Proposals to make healthcare local & preventative are welcome, as are plans to make eye care more accessible.
But it comes without a much needed social care plan & there is no distinct policy for people with learning disabilities, unlike past plans.

As it takes on a bigger role over the NHS, we urge government to act on health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities, and not to forget the need for community based reforms for eye care β with special schools eye care ready to rollout after a decade of campaigning.
14.03.2025 09:44 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0And todayβs announcement must not delay reform of social care, which needs its own urgent plan - not least because of the crisis in funding which is set to worsen with the employer NI changes in April.
