Faculty Position in Anatomy, Physiology & Cell Biology We are seeking an outstanding integrative physiologist (broadly defined) for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) to join our faculty in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology in the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), UC Davis. Our department is a highly integrated group of faculty studying molecular, cellular, physiological, and pathophysiological mechanisms of health and disease. The candidate should have an active research program that focuses on interdisciplinary physiology research using state-of- the-art approaches. We welcome research which diversifies our expertise, and/or that which complements existing strengths in gastrointestinal, neuroimmune, musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory systems as well as developmental biology. Candidates are expected to expand access to education and provide opportunities in research for students, trainees, and the community across various life and professional experiences. • Candidates must possess a PhD and postdoctoral experience in physiology or a related field. • Aptitude/experience in teaching broad-based physiology or functional anatomy to professional or graduate students. • Experience with grant writing. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse community.

Still loving my hummingbird feeder… it brings a smile to my face every time I see these little amazing creatures.

The system blocked my last score submit but worked for the rest! I assume it was because I tried to submit after the 11:30 EST cutoff on the due date so make sure you submit before the due date or it will lock you out!

😵‍💫 The 2 am wake up… now it’s almost 4 and I have to wake up at 5. Stay up or try to sleep? 😩

Update to the Temu dog toy saga… her eye swelling has reduced, but yesterday her eyes were weeping (pic 1) and leaving crusty residue and today her skin is peeling like a chemical burn (pic 2). Poor baby. We are gently washing the skin multiple times a day and hoping she didn’t eat filling. 😢

I never realized how much I rely on Canvas during the school year… it’s been out all morning… 😣 ☹️

As I work on my own grant resubmissions I have to wonder- is it worth it or will mine sit there unreviewed for months while my lab slowly loses students and eventually folds as well? 2/

I should be in study section right now talking about cool science but it’s cancelled due to the government shutdown. It sucks as a reviewer, but it sucks more for all the applicants who worked so hard on their grants- spending long hours crafting ideas. Relying on this to keep their labs going. 1/

I also gave her a bath and washed her face right away. I hope it gets better soon. 😢

Do yourself a favor and don’t buy your dogs toys from Temu… 🫠 (my mom bought it). She broke it open within minutes, had the stuffing all over her face, and woke up today with her eyes swollen shut. Vet says Benadryl. Poor baby.

For the most part they are collectively migrating NC cells before they mesenchymalize. I cropped the remainder of the neural part of the explant out of the pic- but it’s on the right side. 😄

I generally use the anglicized name for axolotls when I speak about them since people recognize it but I can pronounce the Nahuatl name and love to share these videos so folks know what the word should sound like. 🤩
