And as Farage himself said, FPTP is your enemy until you get to about 25% and then it becomes your friend. A certain irony if the Labour and Tory parties are destroyed by the same ridiculous voting system that they’ve championed.

Listening to Darren Jones floundering on Today, I think the govt needs to talk more candidly about its differences with the US.
That can still be respectful - this isn't "Love Actually" - but when a US President is phoning the UK press to attack the PM, there's no point rolling out the usual script
I'd love to know what the plan is when a huge proportion of people are laid off thanks to AI or whatever and there are no jobs for them to go to, no way for them to earn money to live.

From the department of "No Shit, Sherlock"

Article about Dr Ash Patel who bakes cakes for his team.
I can’t find Ash on here, but that doesn’t mean Bluesky should miss out on this recent piece in the @bmj.com!
He’s a children’s kidney doctor, and I’m sure his team appreciate his creations.
Geriatricians (like me) are often keen bakers. Cake features in many multidisciplinary meetings!

I think you’re right there.

I’ve just finished listening to “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah.
Stories of occupied World War II France are particularly distressing at the moment.
How can we have failed so badly to learn from history?

One year ago governments around the world announced historic aid cuts. These cuts are not abstract. They are immediate. And they are deadly.

Varies quite a lot. Some people not too bothered by it but others say it’s one of the worst pains you can get.

We were very lucky. We were substituting for friends who couldn’t go but didn’t want the tickets to go to waste.
It was amazing.

A new study by researchers at Cardiff University shows a massive broadcast media bias (including by the institutionally transphobic BBC) against the Green Party and others and disproportionate coverage in favour of Reform…
nation.cymru/feature/why-...
Farage's Reform bandwagon has stalled & beginning to go into reverse. There is a clear ceiling to Farage's support of abt 30% in the polls & the increasingly radicalised & racist language from Reform & successive failure to win by-elections is having a detrimental impact.

Let me make something clear.
Britain has been flying missions out of Cyprus to defend Israel and US military installations attacking Iran.
This is not 'defensive' this is being at war.
Facebook post by the Daily Mail: 'I'm not only trappedin a warzone, but I'm going to get fat again as well." "I'm trapped and under attack in Dubai - but worst of all, I left my Mounjaro pen in the fridge"
It's Private Eye I feel sorry for. How do you spoof The Daily Mail these days?

Issue 550, January 1983, some months after the Falklands war.
"I want a change of regime in Iran.
But what’s happening isn’t about freeing the Iranian people. It’s an imperialist, capitalist war started by bullies who take whatever they want & murder whomever gets in their way, including humanitarian and health workers"

"To all influencers and other tax exiles in Dubai, the tax authorities wish you a safe return to France."

"I'm not sure that anyone who voted Green (in Gorton and Denton) works" says Nigel Farage.
So not just smearing the winners of the by-election his party just lost, but all of their voters too.
There's a reason this one stuck around in the collective consciousness

"Unquestionably blindly following the Americans is, in my view, the wrong thing to do.. I'd pass legislation that said military action could be taken if.. the lawful case for it was made.. there was a viable objective &.. you got consent of the commons"
When's the vote, Keir?
