I think that everyone who actually has a PhD and works with peoples with PhD must've chuckled a little when "open" AI's newest model was advertised as a PhD level human as if that was a really good thing. I mean I appreciate that people still respect our education but also lol.

I've been doing computational linguistics for over 20 years now, yet I still get surprised and don't know how to work with people who aren't passionate. Like we are working on something exciting, why wouldn't you spend extra time (at airport etc) on reading annotations and word lists?

tfw in language learning from such B2~C1 onwards is when you have subtitles on and subtitles don't match what is said. One of the more annoying reasons In Norway and Germany for reality tv they just rewrite modern or dialectal spoken, language to "standard", it's just so distracting and feil.

I have been using proton as an non google alternative to email, it's not ideal but kind of works. They are on github so it's kind of open source. But the linux support is kind of limited and on top of that they just deleted the issues: github.com/ProtonMail/p... that's kind of sus and annoying...
