Whimsical photo of a karure | kakaruia | Chatham Island black robin courtesy of Kevin Parker. Features as a wee black bird with four leg bands: white over orange on the left leg and red over white on the right leg. Sneaky tufts of feathers peak out from otherwise borb-like body, encouraged by the unseen wind.

Have I spelt francs wrongly? It looks incorrect both ways?

According to the small girls walking their dog this morning the tooth fairy brings $2, which, apparently, you save.
In my day it was 20 franks (Belgian not French), a currency that no longer even exist.
Also I adore that the small girls always have IMPORTANT NEWS to share when we meet.

Sheep so newly shorn that they are pinkish with white woolly go faster stripes along their flanks

In the last UK Taskmaster, one of them had Thomson and one had Thompson on their sweaters, right?

I teared up reading this.
At Dad's church, at Waterloo near Brussels, it's the season of creation. On the Sunday I was there, the kids had just started colouring in ocean critters. I wonder if they will have space for a toroa?

A million dollars will, sadly, not even slightly meet DOC's funding shortfalls.

Watching the George Street rain gardens rain-gardening live and in person is a highlight of a soggy old morning.

Rainy day here too but my recently moved and planted plants are having a gorgeous time. The small one and I are, however, quite damp.

Waving from where the sparrows have looked out of their nests and gone "bugger this, it's raining" and gone back to bed.

Have a good trip

I refused my GPs request to use AI to transcribe my notes on environmental grounds, and then spent 5 minutes telling him that he has to vote in the local elections.

Sometimes I, mistakenly, believe that I am relaxed and fun.

My friend Jo doesn't know the exact date of my birthday but does know that when the Chatham Island forget-me-nots flower, it must be about time.

I love this.
