My father was raised in care (@Quarriers) until working age. I finally had a chance to look at what little notes there are of his 14 years there. Vivid insights into family life, poverty and the (lack of) standards of housing in a small industrial town, which led to the referral.

Coming to the end of a project evaluating the work of US office for #violenceprevention organisations. The last meeting was this evening with the Department of Violence Prevention in Oakland. Great to hear how they apply a public health approach to violence prevention.

8 years ago, I left children's safeguarding and a 25-year career working with some of the most vulnerable children imaginable. I always find it interesting how those experiences often have little value in academia.
