Sargent says Dems should argue “even for new economic and humanitarian pathways, while packaging this as a real way to bring order to the system.” That’s correct and it’s not optional. Position can’t be “immigration is good so don’t enforce limits“ - has to be “immig is good so raise limits.”

Sargent is 100% correct that Dems have opportunity (I’d say “need”) to play offense on immigration but this has to include call for raising limits on legal immigration. It is not credible to oppose mass deportation without arguing that immigration is good for the US and we should allow more of it.

Some good news:
This immigrant's declaration -- which was so horrifying that more than 3000 folks reposted it -- helped convince MN federal judge Nancy Brasel to grant a TRO today prohibiting ICE from abusing immigrant prisoners.

"In theater" is a military term that refers to a wartime theater of operations. ICE and CBP agents are in Minnesota, which is one of the United States. The enemy in this military operation are citizens of Minnesotans and the United States.

Inspired by @micahlasher.bsky.social going to Minneapolis to help fend off tyranny and lawless government violence. It’s not overstatement to say this is like marching in Selma.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

I watched it, that actually makes it much worse. He never should have been in front of the SUV. We are trained do not get in front of a vehicle like that, there’s only bad outcomes. Also, his video clearly shows she was not surreptitiously reaching for any objects within the vehicles drivers compartment, so the only defense for the agent would be that she was trying to run him over, which clearly isn’t the case, as emphasized by the fact that his legs were out of the way. The video also shows the SUV was moving so slowly that even in icy conditions he should’ve just moved out of the way. In the department of justice we are prohibited from using deadly force purely to prevent escape. Bad shoot all around
