Again, having a strong, educated opinion isn't arrogance. Arrogance is ignorance masking as authority. And like pornography or indie sleaze, I know it when I see it.

I've been thinking about contempt, and people who always speak contemptuously. It's not a tone issue, for the most part. Contempt is false superiority. People use contempt when they feel superior or they use it to assume superiority. But it's fake, a pose, or delusion either from fear or stupidity.

‪A weird thing that happened in my lifetime:

people used to admire indie and the DIY ethos but sometime around 2007, our values changed. People started to worship authority, celebrity, corporate comedy, and the mainstream, without irony. I should have seen that we were being primed for fascism.
