Liu Qingge is holding out a wiggling sack. He says "Shen Qingqiu! I brought a birthday gift for your daughter who looks exactly like if we had a baby, and was born 9 months after I nearly died in Lingxi caves, in an incident I don't remember. She could never be ours though because I'm an alpha and you a beta, and also we would never fuck, so I believe your story about finding her in a bush." The daughter mentioned is running over to him excited, and says "Yay!" Shen Qingqiu (Jiu) has a fan covering the bottom of his face and says "Ok. You can leave now"

A collection of doodles. Shen Jiu has a hand on his exposed stomach which is slightly raised. He says "???? Shen Qingqiu turns to face him looking calmer but questioning and ask "What do you mean shidi? I was just trying to do calligraphy before you so rudely interrupted me" Liu Qingge asks "Why the hell did you save me?" Shen Jiu gets angry and says "What? Are you mad you're alive?"

Two comics The top one Shen Jiu holds out a baby and says "Meet your niece" Shen Yuan looks confused "My WHAT?" he asks. The baby is put in his arms and he goes "EH? Didi?! Didi?! Sometimes I think about secret omega shen jiu saves liu qingge in the caves thru sex, gets pregnant and then they take like 10 years to get together.

Like SJ Avoids him so hard, skipping all the required health checks and mandatory classes.

just thinking about secret!omega shenjiu going through long-term pack rejection and being unable to keep food down or sleep … the only reason he hasn’t completely wasted away or died like other rejected omegas is because he’s an immortal omega cultivator surviving on inedia 😩

MQF takes SJ’s pulse again. It’s still weak, but already slightly (just a little) stronger than just moments before.

MQF grasps SJ’s hand again. SJ’s hand was now warm.

There is a niggling suspicion in MQF’s mind.

He doesn’t let go of SJ.

MQF: what limits are those?

SJ scowls and remains silent. He knows what the pack already thinks of him. No reason to let them look down on him even more for his weak cultivation.

MQF presses the back of his hand to SJ’s forehead. It wasn’t clammy anymore.

(SJ is answering honestly because he doesn’t know where MQF’s mind is going. SJ thinks his body just has many fucked up quirks. Yes, he *knows* what happens to rejected mortal omegas (‘they waste away and die, duh?’) but he’s an immortal who barely lives like an omega 🤷‍♀️ (no nest, no heat, no scent))

SJ looks around warily, bc he hadn’t forgotten how they were considering disinviting him from such an important pack activity over not eating his food.

SJ: Yes. Well no. Not often. But on occasion.

MQF: How infrequently does this happen?

SJ: Mu Shidi is overreacting. This Shixiong is fine. It’s an old ailment. Nothing to be concerned about.

(SJ dabs at his lips with his sleeve. His mouth tastes foul. He HATES it.)

MQF is confused and worried. It doesn’t seem like SQQ was poisoned, but immortal cultivators do not just puke out their dinners for no reason. (They don’t get GERD or stomach flu 🤷‍♀️). Neither do they break out into cold sweat. Or have weak, thready pulses. Or have cold hands.

MQF frowns

He grabs SJ’s other wrist and takes his pulse. He frowns.

Places a hand on SJ’s forehead. He frowns again.

He grasps SJ’s hands and his brows furrow deeply.

He asks to see SJ’s tongue (and SJ was feeling too humiliated and ill to refuse his alpha, ok??) and SJ obediently does so.

SJ’s ears are burning with humiliation as he searches his sleeves for cloth to clean up the mess in front of him

one of the alphas, maybe LQG yells “Shen Qingqiu!” and SJ almost face plants into the table at the force of that call. his hands fly to his face as he tries and fails to hide the mess he made.

he polishes each plate clean and feels progressively worse 🫠

SJ doesn’t even get through 7 out of the 10 dishes when the nausea finally overwhelms him and he begins violently vomiting all of his dinner onto poor LBH (who was pushed to server duty on CNY eve by his shixiongs 😓)

all this was said in earshot so omega SJ was internally panicking a bit at the thought of being disinvited from an important pack activity

he forces himself to chew. and swallow. each mouthful feels greasy & uncomfortable. he ignores the growing cramping + steadily rising nausea

👨: *sees SQQ staring at the food with furrowed brows, snorts* we should just dispense with an invite next year

it’s New Year’s Eve (happy cny! 🧧) and the CQMS PL pack is having their reunion dinner

👤 why do we even bother inviting SQQ to reunion dinners when he would just turn his nose up at the food 🙄

and he can’t sleep + has night terrors if a pack member isn’t cuddling him, or if he isn’t in the pack’s nest 🥹 the pale imitation of a pack mate’s touch which he gets the warm red pavilion isn’t enough … and isn’t comparable to the real thing. he needs all these to recover!

SJ would need to be hand fed back to health! if a pack member doesn’t hand feed him, he can’t muster up an appetite.

if he isn’t having skin-to-skin contact with a pack member, he can’t keep his food down (he throws up 🥹)!

he’d have to sit on their laps to eat from their hands

his body can’t retain heat so he’s always cold. he doesn’t have any appetite, gets nauseous after eating just a little and can’t keep food down. ironically he was better off before without a pack than with one because this is his body’s attempt at getting his pack to care him 😔
