One little discussed side effect that I hope disappears with Kristi Noem is Gnome slander. Gnomes are those awesome little guys you see in your garden when you are tripping on mushrooms. Noem is kind of the opposite. The difference is very important.

I think we underestimate how frustrating it was to consistently have the smart people they rely upon tell them their actions are short-sighted and immoral. The AI has no such drawback, at least if they apply enough pressure.

I've noticed the right is far more eager to embrace AI than the left, for example the recent Trump admin pressure on AI companies to aid them in war crimes and mass surveillance. It is obvious they see it as a way to emulate a smart guy who doesn't tell them they shouldn't do what they want.

Autistic nerd reality check: have you REALLY discovered a hidden connection no-one else will see, or have you simply taken a word and broadened its definition via technicalities and edge cases until it's ceased to describe anything at all, then mistaken that lack of descriptive power for insight?

Good idea, I recall the Realms of Chaos books had great lists of random mutations that players might not realize are random.

The reason I say that it is difficult to translate is that in D&D and such, they already know what monsters they might be transforming into. Any mutation is a sign that can be interpreted. But in this show there is no real way to guess for the characters. The ignorance is tense.

There's a lot of speculation about what Thaddeus is going to turn into in the Fallout show and I wonder how that translates into RPGs. Usually when there is a transformation they know what they are going to turn into and why (wild magic, curses, etc.), but here it is a mystery. How to translate it?

See this is actually an interesting point. I personally know I can do whatever I want, but there ARE readers to whom this is a revelation! I can read rule zero and know it's just not written for big bwave rpg webels like me, and that is fine.

I had more positive memories of playing it, but I guess that is more situational. The only problem that kept showing up is the logistics of playing anything other than a veritech pilot. The other OCCs were stuck with grounded destroids and it really limited the scenario.

So when eating very spicy food, does everyone else taste something indefinable and mysterious right before the spice hits and clears it away? So you keep eating more so you can figure out what that taste is, but still can't match it to any other flavor? Is it just me? Other people must feel this.
