Women ate powerful enough in creating their own table. We have to throw away the idea that we have too wait for an invitation to sit an mens table. Nonsense. The only table they know is dictatorship and violence. Let's start own own tables. We have impressive examples.

A cofounder of the journal Tropiques, she was a central voice in the Négritude and an early theorist of anticolonial and feminist ideas in the French Caribbean. Born to an educator mother and sugar-factory worker father, Suzanne Roussi excelled academically and left Martinique for France to study literature in Toulouse and Paris. In 1936, she entered the École normale supérieure, where she met future poet and politician Aimé Césaire, whom she married in 1937. Together they participated in the Parisian circle of Négritude alongside Léopold Sédar Senghor and Léon-Gontran Damas. Beyond literature, Césaire advocated for women’s emancipation and social equality through the Union des Femmes Françaises. She rejected both exoticism and assimilation, asserting the creative power of Caribbean hybridity. Her theatrical adaptation Aurore de la liberté (1952), based on Lafcadio Hearn’s Youma, dramatized the 1848 Martinican emancipation revolt.
