The app OWN is the same way and when I I logged on and saw that it was a side scroll app similar to what they just did here, I said, that's not for me and I walked away. The difference here is they built an app similar to TikTok, and then pulled the rug out from under us. Why wouldn't we complain?

I walked away for a while only to come back and find out it's still trash. I can't believe this app had so much potential and you people threw it all away and made it into this. Side scrolling and no real FYP to speak of.

You do have a fair point about the duration of videos and commenting, I'll give you that. But to say carousel scrolling is easier on the eyes is quite the stretch. I know so many people that are angry about what other apps have done with carousel scrolling. Like I said, you enjoy it and I'm out.

Your example literally is validating my point! When you read a book or magazine you weren't constantly flipping. You're reading for a while and then you flip. And you can still give people those options without making the user interface absolutely horrible. All we want is a vertical scroll FYP.

I never said we couldn't. I said that much flipping is uncomfortable. I'm saying that scrolling across creator profiles is dumb. Deliberately not wanting to create an actual FYP feed is kind of just lazy out the gate. But if you like it, you're right at home.

Yes, that's primarily what I'm saying. There's a reason that we scroll up and down and not left and right. Left and right is doable, but it's not comfortable. The way we hold our phones is not to swipe left and right. Like I said before, they should've done that from the start and not changed it now

Now think about what you just said. One scroll to the right and you got the creators profile, one scroll to the left and you got the TT Shop. That's just one swipe. What I being told is I need to swipe repeatedly to the left like I'm on a dating app. And then it's just through creators profiles. 🙄

Like I said, scrolling left is awful! That is not how it was originally set up and that is why I feel duped. I would gladly sacrifice more control for a vertical scroll. I did find out YouTube shorts has it, so that's probably where I may end up. 🤷‍♂️

If skylight had a true FYP similar to TikTok, I wouldn't be complaining at all. But what is being described is kind of asinine. It's not fluid and it's not logical as a type of FYP. The way it's being described to me on how it's supposed to function doesn't make any sense. I want to discover things.

Yeah, this is exactly why I feel duped and don't plan to use skylight any longer. I don't know who in their right mind wants to scroll left and right to find assorted feeds and then scroll down for more of that same subject or whatever. I wish it was like that from the start so I didn't waste time.

How is that dramatic when I've been using the app for a while and the user interface was a certain way. Then I started trying to build my profile up and discover more people, but all of a sudden the app was completely changed, no one is discoverable, there's no longer a feed to speak of?

Again, the app was working with a built in feed and functions similar to most apps. Then they scrapped everything and made a new app that doesn't even function. I don't believe there is intention to make this app work well any longer.

So use yet another app to make a feed from nothing so it can hang on the clothes line at the top? Where is the discovery? All I hear is make a list and just enjoy it. It was actually working way better before they changed it. I don't think this app is worth investing in any longer.

ChatGPT described it best, it said it's a scavenger hunt to find people to follow. The best way I could find was to go to BlueSky and use it feed and you might possibly find new people, but that's supposed to be people you follow already. 🤷‍♂️

I think that will either help them or hurt them. Right now I think people are just looking for something that's similar that they can post openly on. Unfortunately, I think there's a lot of people like me out there that have hated the horizontal swipe since its inception.

But who's trying to watch one single feed? Who wants to go to one channel and just watch every video they've ever made? We might as well go back to MySpace, TBH.

I feel like the design change is major because that sets the foundation for how this app is going to function. But I do agree with what you're saying about an interested and dislike button. Those will definitely be crucial to an algorithm, but what goods an algorithm if you have to use it like this?

Left and right is horrible in end of itself anyway, but it's not acting like that at all. It's just a bunch of personal feeds or communities on one subject hanging on a clothes line.

Everything you just described sounds like hot garbage to me. This is like everything I don't want and I had such high hopes for Skylight. Use another app to still do something I don't want instead of the app guessing guessing, or creating variety, in a feed. I don't understand how this makes sense.

And those are like communities. This update has made things very isolated. Discovery will be difficult and many like me won't stick around to sort through the pile. I'm looking for true variety, not communities devoted to one subject or person.

I feel like all we wanted was a replacement for TikTok and now they're going in a completely different direction and making the app more like OWN. As soon as I signed onto OWN I realized that is not what I want in an app. Now this app seems to be going the same direction and I don't know where to go

Well, I hate to tell you but it's not working the way we think it should or the way they think it should. Because all it does is swipe between users that you follow. That's not enjoyable at all.

In any case, horizontal swiping is horrible! I don't know who in their right mind says let's just flip side to side all day long, that seems fun. I have been submitting some feedback everywhere. I'm not sure if it's the right places, but I've been trying.

No, it's not. I follow Stephen King and one entire feed is nothing more than Stephen King videos. If I swipe over it's somebody else and that entire feed is nothing more than that person's videos. If I swipe back, it's the same videos. This app has become unusable.

I literally find this app unusable now. It's nothing more than a bunch of feeds on a string that you have to slide over on to view. I can't imagine this was deliberate. I would pull this version back until it's fixed.

Yes, I realize I can swipe over and see people I don't follow but the problem is in what you just said. I don't want to see people's feeds, I want to see a feed with all the people.
