your goal shouldnt be to artificially inject your work with a watered down concept of lynchian "weirdness". it should be developing your own understanding of what is emotionally resonate to you and to explore that untethered by audience or corporate expectations

Every time I really need something I press the button or whatever and then stand around for 5 minutes and nobody ever comes. Half the time if I can find an employee they’re not the person with a key and shrug. Dumb waste of time for everyone involved

Shit, I still have a pair of these under my stairs, even without the mod they were a crazy bang for the buck speaker and served me well for years. I should do this.

Unacknowledged as the best song on that album at minimum and definitely a contender for that honor

There are enough deep cuts on those first two records that if you put blinders on for everything else they ever did after, they hold up

all art is made from spite or horniness, and a computer cannot be spiteful or horny, so a computer should never make art

AI doesn’t just require tons of electric power. It also guzzles enormous sums of water. It also guzzles enormous sums of water.

“In order to shoot off one email per week for a year, ChatGPT would use up 27 liters of water, or about one-and-a-half jugs… that means if one in 10 U.S. residents—16 million people—asked ChatGPT to write an email a week, it’d cost more than 435 million liters of water.”

I got to play one of these a VERY long time ago. Vivid memory. The Aladdin’s Castle arcade I went to as a kid in Madison, Wisconsin had one. Fuckin ruled and was mind blowing at the time

As someone who lives in SF but is constantly asked about things in LA as if it’s a 15 minute drive away this really resonates

Somehow the follow ups are even worse than that post. What an odd thing to be on a high horse about

Baratza. Encore is the bang for the buck option but I use a Virtuoso. BIFL product with replacement parts available

Used/refurbished Steelcase Leap v2. Never liked the Herman Millers. Recommend trying a few but I'm a Leap stan (also they have lots of fun colors which is cool)

Like shortest time in between rounds, or the shortest round? I’ve definitively had it twice, 11 months apart, first time felt sick and tested positive 10 days, second time 3 days.

IIRC 993, 996 and 997 targas all have the same extremely problematic roof assembly that tends to break very badly and constantly cause headaches. Shame because it’s a slick implementation when it works

Like a week ago? To be clear they’re the new label bottles and cans. I have like 12 of them in my fridge (I don’t like Anchor Steam that much)

The bodega by my place in Dogpatch still has plenty of cans and bottles, last I checked. It’s getting harder to find but not like *that*

Not at all, I have the same feeling. You get the impression that the design brief basically said “the only fucking thing the passenger should be allowed to touch is the stereo” and I have as much respect for the sentiment as I do for the execution

What I like to call “function pods” had a real moment for a while there in the late 80’s/early 90’s. Special honors to the Renault-derived Eagle Premier/Dodge Monaco, which eliminated the turn signal stalk for a paddle that faced the driver!

They are an object better admired from afar and not experienced, sadly. They didn’t put any real engineering work into the driving experience. The SVX happened when they really committed to doing the whole thing right

If you didn’t notice the left hand drive or Subaru XT badging, I’m American 😉 But it was basically a fancy body and interior on the Leone/L-series economy car platform. Slow, unrefined, bad handling, drove like a tractor. I’ve driven a few over the years including the XT6, a strange novelty at best
