All of Canada just let out a collective breathe.
How is everyone else's nerves doing??

I ended up going with Paul Bernardos 2007 interview. If you haven't seen it, its a wild ride.

My yearly reminder that if you ask me to fill out multiple boxes for a reference and I write "see letter" that it is not a judgement on the student, but a reality of writing 6+ references for 15-20 applicants within my very limited time.
Side note- Please stop asking for specific comments.

Probably. But if we award credit no matter what, it may not matter. Just need X% more respondents to get real ones.

I am quite worried about students using AI if we use an undergrad pool, just based on what I am seeing in class.
Is there a way to hidden text or anything?
How are people catching people using AI to complete online surveys? This seems much harder than bots.

Oh its 100% a real ask on top of trying to be funny.
Only 4% of all psychologists in Ontario work full time in a publicly funded position. Only 8% work PT. Thats it. With a mental health crisis on hand we need to continue to support publicly funded mental health care.
The ending of game 7 feels like a good time to ask for the goverment to increase investment in public mental health care in Canada.

Last week, the Ont govt announced that psychologists will be getting prescription rights.
This next week, our psych college announced that in response to govt pressure, the new standard to be a
psychologist will be 1/3 of the training we currently require.
This needs to be public.
I feel the exact same way. We have all been too complicit in the regulation of our profession
27.09.2025 12:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0100%. To hear a council member, who was not a psychologist, completely misrepresent what we do was extremely concerning. How is it that people who do not understand our profession are allowed to vote on regulating it?
26.09.2025 19:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0This will not increase access to mental health care. There is an important place for masters level clinicians as registered psychotherapists. There are great therapists who are registered with that college. Changing our standards to match theirs makes no sense.

Like MDs, we require a 6 years and 6000+ clinical hrs to be a psychologist. This would lower it to 2 yrs and 300 hrs
Psychologists do assessments on offenders in jail, on children for learning problems, on suicidal patients. Would you feel safe with people having 1/3 of the training doing these?
The proposal is to remove our ethics and oral licensing exams, remove the requirement of CPA approved PhD program requirements and allow masters registration, and getting rid of areas of competency, among other things.
This is incredibly dangerous to the public.
