Happy birthday! That looks like a fine way to launch a new decade.
04.08.2025 14:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0hello i am the government. we have given predatory international capital everything they ever asked for but for some reason they want more things. we've already taken your entire salary so now we'd like your allotment, bin collection, community centre and lollypop lady.
04.08.2025 09:57 β π 283 π 90 π¬ 2 π 0What an end to the Tour(s) de France! This Visma Lease-A-Bike household has seen a lot of yelling at the TV over the last few weeks, and watching todayβs stage was the cherry on top of the icing on the cake. PAULINE PREVAILS! Absolute icon! ππ€ #TourDeFranceFemmes #WatchTheFemmes

Me, a white woman in my 40βs, taking a selfie outside after a run. Iβm wearing a black baseball cap, black sunnies, black tee and shorts, and a grey hydration pack. Iβm smiling at the camera and look a bit pink in the face.
Took a detour to a galaxy far, far away on todayβs lush 12km in the sun along the Clyde and Kelvin rivers. That was my longest run for a while, actually, Iβm glad my legs still know what to do! #RunningPunks

02.08.2025 20:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am fully here for any opportunity for this cast to chew some scenery, sing, dance, whatever. Especially if Frakes is directing. Wesleyβs off-brand Kirk was perfect, lovely stuff.
01.08.2025 21:28 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve seen a few folk saying they didnβt enjoy this weekβs Strange New Worlds. Theyβre entitled to their opinion, but for me? What a totally silly, sweet, joy-filled bit of telly. I know those episodes stick out in a short season, so theyβre jarring compared to the srsbsns ones, but theyβre SO GOOD.

An adorable bit of graffiti on a pavement. Someone has used white spray paint to draw a cute lilβ cat on the pavement. Strava stats on the left of the picture show a 8.43km run in 52mins
An 8km tempo run before 7am? I truly donβt recognise myself anymore. #RunningPunks

Thatβs the point.
When thereβs no alt text, sight impaired people get exactly what youβre seeing now:

The headline is absolutely putting the blame on the wrong group of people. The blame is squarely at the feet of the EHRC and the frothing, gender critical weirdos who think itβs normal to sit in the loo and obsess about the junk of the person using the stall next to them.

28.07.2025 08:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Photo of a tv. Onscreen a woman holds an axe with a periodic table visible behind.
Buffy is so old there were only 103 named elements, weβre at 118 now.
(Yes I pause every show that has a periodic table to see if its period accurate)
In the Kingdom of Ice by Hampton Sides, about the USS Jeanette is another book in the same vein that I really enjoyed, if youβre looking for a similarly grim read. Such wild stories!

27.07.2025 09:09 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0What a brilliant shot! Shamefully, Iβve only ever been βdoon the watterβ once, on a night sailing to Port Glasgow. I should really rectify that.

A lovely wee black and white cat peering out at me from the shelter of a lot of green shrubbery.
My inability to coordinate my runs with the Waverleyβs sailing times continues, although at least today I was able to cross the Govan bridge after only a short wait instead of having to rejig my route on the fly! Also met a lovely wee tuxie pal on the way. Happy Saturday, #RunningPunks!
26.07.2025 13:55 β π 31 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I shared the link yesterday, but (UK citizens only please) the Gaza petition to UK parliament is here if you're looking for it; just cracked 76k and the rate at which people are signing is creeping up; currently 4500/hour and only needs 347 signatures every hour for the next 3 days to hit 100k

The blank tape, on which this amazing playlist has been recorded. For reasons that are absolutely lost to the mists of time, the sticker along the bottom says βhappyβ¦birthdayβ¦yaβ¦Delβ¦Amitriβ¦fanaticβ.
The piece about mix tapes in The Graun made me think of the endlessly brilliant ones that my pal @kamack.bsky.social used to present me with. A lot of stuff from my youth got chucked (thanks, Dad!) Iβm so glad I was able to hold on to this gem. What a playlist!

I got tickets to the same tour, both bands were a big part of my youth. If I donβt get a lottery place in the Lisbon half, which is the same weekend, I have a mighty fine consolation prize!
