De eksisterende forsvarsaftaler mellem USA og Danmark fra 1941 og 1951 er rigeligt til at USA kan udvide deres militære tilstedeværelse i Grønland og afskrække kinesere og andre. Men det giver selvfølgelig ikke USA mere territorium, og det er nok der, isbjørnen ligger begravet.
