Phoenix Project

Tomorrow is Saint Nicholas Day. Shannon, Anastasia, Harrison, and Liubov will be coming tomorrow morning to hand out candy, host games, and then we will have breakfast with Saint Nicholas!

In the afternoon, we will be having a special arrival from Hope Across Borders!

Jay and Lina went to Przemysł, Poland where Kamil had organized an exhibition on Count Skarbek's vision and legacy! We are so delighted to keep his legacy alive through the Phoenix.

Afterwards, they completed the setup of the new air hockey table and football table in the kids play room..... I'm smelling a tournament tomorrow.

Jessie put up our new tree in the kitchen and ensured that all the Christmas trees are stable.

Eddie, Thierry, and Richard brought clothing to the Lviv Free Store! This clothing was brought all the way from the UK to ensure that people have the clothing they need during the winter.

Kamil has setup an exhibition in Poland tomorrow on Skarbek's legacy and has invited us to present on the Phoenix so off to Przemyśl we go! 🦞🦞🦞

HopeXBorders will be visiting us on Saturday to make this holiday season a time to look forward with hope and excitement.

A massive thank you to Ruslan for making a magical holiday for our residents. For many of them, this is their first Christmas not at home... Not because they went on vacation but because they don't have a home anymore

We started off the day by cutting down 11 Christmas trees! Our residents came with us to our friend Ruslan's forest and picked out the trees they wanted for their rooms and for the common areas.

Alina spent the day sorting gifts for Saint Nicholas day on Saturday and creating cute bags.
Jay and Eddie started assembling a foosball table for the children. Since Jay is working on it we hope for it to be assembled tomorrow but no promises.

We, and our future residents, are so incredibly grateful. We hope to start construction in February.
Eddie is back baby!!!! He brought clothing, toys, candy, and....... A fire pit!!!

mickelmasuk said goodbye to us today and is returning home. Before he left, he gave us a gift that will enable us to ensure that people will be able to stay at the Phoenix regardless of their physical abilities. He completed our fundraiser for a disability lift for the 2nd floor!

Zhenia visited us all the way from America. We had a brief English speaking club with the kids and then he wanted to help us so we went out grocery shopping!

Lyudmila and Tanya made a borscht with the last of the leftover turkey 🤤

Alona made amazing pastries for breakfast tomorrow!

Jesse is almost finished on the hygiene room! Just wait for updates tomorrow :)

Mickelmas took everyone out for a pizza party as a thank you for everyone welcoming him. If that wasn't enough,he then made a very generous donation towards our stair lift so that we may accept people with disabilities!

Sunday we had a lazy day :) Lina and the residents sorted humanitarian aid which will be sent to the free store in Lviv.

Today, we went to піцерія Маргарита to thank them for the amazing turkeys and their kindness. It's thanks to acts like this that we keep going.

Thanksgiving prep: turkeys secured (local restaurant saving us bc oven too small )! Amazing visit from John, Chris & Sean of Bulldog Aid UK — they’re delivering 2 ambulances east and brought toys, a tablet & big hearts for our kids. Grateful for this community!

Happy Monday/Tuesday from Ukraine! Sent cookies to the frontline w/ help from Thierry, Mickelmas & Jesse Fixed doors, stocked up on bananas/pears/mangos , patched up an injured stray dog, and held English club (Ukrainian is TOO hard ). More shelving done in hygiene room!

We had a quiet Sunday today 😀

Jesse worked on the hygiene/medical room. One shelving wall has been completed.

We are working on catching up on "Stranger Things" before the season 5 premier next week!

Tomorrow we will do a big grocery shop for the week.

We got our first snow of the winter! So of course.... SNOWBALL FIGHT!

Afterwards, we took the children sledding and they built a snowman. Then... Hot chocolate!

Later we had English lessons, coloring, and a lot of Minecraft!

Our residents wrote Christmas cards for the troops who so valiantly protect us. these cards will be delivered to the frontlines in the next few weeks.
