Many people don’t know that Willard Scott, the late weather announcer on NBC’s Today show, created Ronald McDonald. I met him when I was about 12 years old and he was dressed as, what else, a 🤡.

🤣I need to buy some. Very difficult scanning the sky using a zoom lens near the edge of a windy mesa.

3.2 near Cabezon Peak, 70 miles west of Albuquerque. Recent moisture and low altitude has likely affected viewing. ClearDarkSky 'seeing' values show improvement over the next couple of days. I’ll probably head out again tomorrow or Sunday night to do tracked shots and try for better tail definition.

Last night’s shot: a single 8 sec. exposure of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) above a New Mexico mesa. It wasn’t visible to the eye, so tracking it down was half the fun. Should brighten some in coming days.☄️

Va reminded me something unusual happened while I photographed the storm. I grew up in Va and remember seeing countless lightning bugs on summer nights. As it got dark, I started seeing lightning bugs flying around! Very rare here in NM and most of the West.
