The Iranian ambassador was not, for the record, on American soil.
I’ve never seen an admin more full of juvenile man-children openly projecting their juvenile man-childness every time they open their mouths and try to come across as “tough.” (And yes, I know Waltz’s background: still juvenile.)
The SD-26 primary is absolutely going to a recount, and this result may well change once provisional ballots are reviewed.
We have now watched Phil Berger spend over $10 million on his own primary, for a total of about 26,000 votes in the entire election, coming to a total of around $390 per vote.
Technocapitalists’ great trick is to make people who hate all this bullshit feel like they’re suffering from the same fogeys-not-coping-with-a-changing-world syndrome every generation succumbs to, rather than, say, just rejecting a rampant evil that seeks to rob us of our individuality & and soul.

Well written eulogy for the Senate career of Thom Tillis from @billyball.bsky.social
“It wasn’t his ‘independent thinking’ that was the problem but his maddening inconsistency.”
As local candidates they are similarly…umm, MAGAtastic.
But.
Phil Berger is the most powerful politician in the state and has run GOP politics from his Senate office for more than a decade.
His loss would be the end of a generational era in NC politics and the ramifications would be immense.
It’s been a total gas hanging out here tonight with those of y’all also on tinterhooks about primary stuff.
Thanks for a truly fun, weird, and fascinating evening!
Looking forward to watching Berger and Page beat up on each other in the coming days. Should be a total blast.
G’night.
That’s why you’re the neatest, Isabel — coming out swinging for the value of the data!

Interesting what @jeffreycollinsap.bsky.social may point to here — in this very costly & consequential race btwn two MAGA candidates, some VERY strange bedfellows could emerge.
After the recounts & hand-counting of ballots, one of them may have to side WITH voting rights & democracy. #ncpol
It probably is, or rather has been/should be, relatively concrete…
…but then our NCSBE hasn’t been exactly an exemplar of normative behavior & best practice recently?
(I’d bet that, of everyone involved, the campaigns & their lawyers have concrete *strategies* in place & the arguments are flying.)
WHAT.

I don’t know for certain (and have decided not to guess).
I’ve been attending some local election board meetings recently, which has made me even *less* comfortable about prognosticating on stuff like that — having learned that *those folks* don’t always seem to be experts about many such things.
All of this accords with my supposition as well.

Great question.
I might hazard a guess save for the fact that it almost certainly involves not only the State Board of Election but TWO SEPERATE county election boards.
I have been flipping through all the channels and all the websites because I cannot believe this

This is where my expertise ends.
I’ve no idea what happens in these cases but you can bet on 1 thing… NO ONE is likely to consider this settled.
My guess is that we are in for some hand counting & audits & everything that usually comes with an election night result determined by TWO VOTES.
#ncpol
Two.
Votes.
OH MY
With 100% of precincts reporting, Sam Page defeats Phil Berger by…
TWO VOTES

If you’d like to join all of us dorks awaiting the next update from the NCSBE of the district 26 results, here’s the website we are refreshing over and over…
(The last update from Guilford County was at 10:36pm)
er.ncsbe.gov?election_dt=...
Those last two Guilford precincts…
…if Berger maintains his county win rate there he could eke out a win.
(I don’t do sports specifically because I very much do not enjoy this feeling)
This experience is becoming to much like waiting to hear the score of a UNC vs Duke basketball game, transmitted by telegraph.
(There’s 60secs left and Duke has the possession arrow, having whittled down the 2nd half UNC lead to 1 pt.)
