Because collections have been indicated in the surprise AO3 20 hour update taking place on the 26th of September we are moving the start of sign ups to the 28th to give time to see what changes, if any will be implemented to collections which is where oir exchanges are run.

Our Twisted Halloween flash event will be coming up in October, but keep an eye out for another quick flash exchange between now and then!

We're a small team of three people, and originally the planning fell on one person, because the rest of us had 0 clue how to set up the AO3 challenges. We've been learning so what happened with our last event shouldn't happen again, we'll be able to roll over to another person and get things out.

The previous person running these events is taking a personal hiatus. We're sorry for the lack of the Pride month event, so we're going to run it again next year properly.

The primary mod of this page is a mental health professional, and with the current climate of the country we reside in, she has been working overtime and has not had time to see to this page as she should have.

Jack had never been on a date before. He knew he was an awkward guy, but maybe that was why he thought this would work. Deuce was somehow even more awkward. His senpai had told him this aquarium was the number one dating spot in their area, so here they were, awkwardly walking around the outside of it in the wee hours of the morning, trying not to be too awkward. The building was closed - he should have checked, okay, failure one - but at least they could walk around the outside and see the glass seawall that this place was most famous for. It was still mostly concrete, 20 feet high, with half of it sunk down into the ground, visible only by going down several steps, but there were long glass panels every 5 or so feet, and even before they finished walking down Jack could see the view was incredible. Schools of colorful fish dashed past, almost like they were showing off. Jack was grateful the waters were so nice and clear around the island their school was on. Deuce was mostly quiet once they went down to the sea wall, which was fine. Neither of them were the type to walk side by side, or chit chat just to fill the silence. Jack stopped to check the aquarium’s schedule on his phone, making sure to memorize the show times, as Deuce walked along the wall and past the different windows.

There was a sea otter show a little after opening, that seemed cool. Jack noticed it was also possible to purchase tickets online, so he went ahead and did that too. When he finished and looked back up, he saw Deuce standing by one of the windows, staring silently, his hand reaching up towards the glass. His fingers were stretched out as though reaching towards something, but he wasn’t moving. For a second, Jack found himself just staring, admiring his boyfriend’s silhouette. He’d become interested in Deuce because of track club, they were the top two runners and instead of being bitter rivals or anything, they became fast friends, and then something a little more. Both of them were always moving, so it was nice seeing Deuce in this moment, in the dim morning light, staring quietly at the window. Then he realized there was something happening, because Deuce wasn’t moving at all. Jack walked over hesitantly, eyes widening when he saw why.

On the other side of the glass, a hand stretched out towards Deuce’s. The shape was mostly human, but webbed skin spread between the fingers, and it was covered in shimmering, small green-blue scales. As Jack got closer, he saw the rest of the figure - a human-like body, that changed somewhere around the torso into what looked like a cross between a dolphin and a tropical fish, for all its beautiful, translucent colors. Jack knew about mermaids, of course, being a beastman, there was nothing strange to think that there were various fish-type humans in the sea. But coming from a town in the mountains, he’d never seen one in person before, hell, he’d never seen the ocean before coming here for school. He had no idea how beautiful they were. And this one was also a boy - that part was clear just looking at the merman’s chest - even though his light purple hair drifted in waves around the most beautiful face Jack had ever seen. Big, blue eyes shimmered and peered directly into Deuce’s, and the merman seemed just as mesmerized by the dark haired student as Deuce was by the merman. Jack was mesmerized too, watching both of them watch each other. All three of them were still.

The Sea Wall
AU, Implied Jack Deuce Epel trio

“Hey! So absolutely beautiful,” Vil sang the last lines together with his backup vocals. Sweat glistened in the harsh stage lights, but the jewels on their jackets dazzled even brighter, along with their eyes. “No chance to beat us.” Three hours of dancing and singing, but this was the norm, and they all pushed through. Vil’s blond hair was still perfectly set, his dark purple suit still pressed and smooth, his lipstick still thick red as he mouthed the final lines. “No one, no way.” The curtain dropped at the end of their encore, their third for the night. They really had nothing else planned, having re-sung their opening piece. Even from behind the curtain, Vil could feel the vibrations from the audience, together with their shouts and cheers. Another great concert. He lived for this, he loved this. The quiet of the hotel once he entered his room was still so, so welcome. He glanced at Rook, who nodded at him and took an unassuming place at the suite’s mini bar. Epel was already in the room, lounging on the couch and browsing on his phone. Vil beelined for the master bedroom, pulling out his hair pins with swift precision, careful not to pull any hairs, and set them down on the dresser, along with his earrings and other jewelry. He didn’t hesitate to shed his shawl on the king-sized bed. Then his jacket, blouse, undershirt, pants, under socks, briefs… He could feel the steam from the bath the moment he opened the suite bathroom door. This was always where he stayed when they performed at this venue. No other hotel in the area had a hot tub big enough to fit a small group of people. Vil was going to take full advantage of it. The bath sunk down into the floor with only a small lip, letting Vil step down into it. He tested the water carefully with his toes. Rook had, of course, gotten the temperature just right. He had his deficiencies, but when it came to anything sensory, Rook was a master.

He wanted to get in right away, but sensibly rinsed off in the shower first, making sure his makeup was properly removed. Don’t skip any steps, he told himself, no matter how impatient he felt. Human skin had to be tended to meticulously. Well, he wouldn’t have to worry about that for a few hours, at least. He finally let himself sink into the tub. He submerged his whole body, his hair floating freely around him. The water felt warm and cool at the same time. His body was cool, then hot, then changing. Specks of green and blue spread across his skin, then quickly grew across his legs, and stomach, and up the sides of his chest, and some along his arms, even up the sides of his neck until it reached his ears. The colors hardened into scales, beautiful and shimmering. His legs were changing, thickening in places, thinning in others, until they weren’t really legs at all, not human ones. He breathed a deep, relaxed sigh as he sank all the way down, submerging even his head. It was fine now that he could breathe underwater. A few bubbles escaped from his lips, and then the gills on the side of his neck fluttered and took over. He closed his eyes, calming himself further, letting himself pretend this was not a mere bath in a hotel suite, but an ocean, like the one he used to swim in. It was silly, when this was the life he’d chosen, but that image was what he needed for a moment. He breathed deeply, letting himself float below the water’s surface, though the bottom of the tub was barely an inch below him. No, he would not let himself feel regret. He had chosen this, this was better. Even if he had to hide who he was, what he was, while showing another version of himself to the entire world, this was better. He was safe here, safe from his grandfather, and that was what he needed. Rook and Epel were here to protect him. He had everything he needed. But was it everything he wanted?
