We are very pleased to share that Helena Taylor’s book ‘Women Writing Antiquity: Gender and Learning in Early Modern France’ (Oxford University Press) has been shortlisted for the Society for French Studies R. Gapper Prize! Congratulations, Helena! 🙌🎉

I'm very proud to have written this article about two newly identified photographs, or card portraits, of Baudelaire's long-term mistress, Jeanne Duval. The first (left, below) was discovered by American writer Summer Brennan, and published on her brilliant Substack A Writer's Notebook in 2021.

Dr Natália Pinazza, Senior Lecturer in Latin American and Lusophone Studies, has been developing, in partnership with the Environment Agency, a prototype app that uses art to communicate climate adaptation projects! More updates on this project as it develops!
