Yet again, I'm amazed to see that postwar buildings I thought were built on bomb sites had in fact replaced Victorian buildings that survived the war in good order. Shucks.

This is to replace one I put up a few days ago - after someone pointed out that the old photo had been flipped horizontally. I hadn't even noticed, with the road being largely symmetrical!

The house on the far right (only just in shot) is a completely different style to the rest of the road, and I suspect it might have been rebuilt, possibly after being bombed in the war, with a reconfig of windows on no. 151, the closest red house, too...

The original will have been taken from the railway sidings slightly up the hill but houses have been built there since the older photo was taken, so I've come forward onto Picton Road itself to at least see most of the scene
