On a plane home, a lawyer sits next to me. We chitchat. He mentions he was just at a conference for lawyers and lawmakers discussing the ramification of AI.

They want copyrights and trademarks protected, but they can’t figure out how.

The law won’t help us. They’re so far behind.

Developer Experience is More Than Just Productivity Metrics If we want to foster true innovation, we have to realize that Developer Experience (DevEx) is the journey, while Developer Productivity is simply the destination.

I finally got around to converting a talk that I have given a few times into a blog post about some of the key differences between #DevEx and Developer Productivity.

Simplifying Git by Using GitButler Git is great - and has been for twenty years. But in that time, how many of us have advanced our git skills? Most of us know about five or six commands: clone, status, push/pull, add, commit, branch, ...

Git is great, but maybe the experience could be better - we make it simple, in the CLI or in our GUI - check it out

To get to profit though, they need it to do a lot more than summarize documents. It needs to reason and solve problems - but it can’t.

Current β€œAI” barely scrapes beyond current search engines.

Seeing Microsoft’s CEO say, β€œwe need to find useful ways to leverage AI” puts to light a few things
- There was never a use for it
- CEOs don’t lead, they hope for the best and take credit later
- There is no path to AI profitability
- It’s a cargo cult

I don’t know that I can be convinced. The teasers all show a doctor who cares working in a hospital.

People have asked me why I don’t watch The Pitt. Frankly, I can’t imagine a hospital not attempting to maximize profit and doing more than processing cost centers (fka patients).

With so many ways of gaining context for models, what works best?

We break down some of the differences and benefits of MCP vs RAG
