Finished No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall. I thought it was okay. I liked the pacing but not so much the ending. #booksky

The cover of the Poison Squad by Deborah Blum. The design is similar to a newspaper page, where the title looks like a vintage advertisement. Surrounding "ads" also include pictures of Dr. Wiley and the Poison Squad. The background is yellow in colour.

Read The Poison Squad by Deborah Blum. Truly amazing book. "We tend these days to cast a romantic glow over the foods of our forefathers...that they ate and drank in a world untouched by the chemically enhanced and deceptive food manufacturing practices of today. In this we would be wrong" #booksky

Read Middle of the Night by Riley Sager. I really liked it, it's not beating out my favourite Riley Sager, but it's up there. #booksky

The cover of Witches of Ash and Ruin by E. Latimer, it features a photo of a teen girl, with pale skin, red hair, wearing a cloak, looking to the right, on a blue background. The tagline is "A Witch Will Rise. An Evil Will Fall."

Read Witches of Ash and Ruin by E. Latimer. YA fantasy isn't really my thing but I loved the action and suspense in this novel. There were a couple of plot points that weren't resolved which annoyed me, but if you love YA fantasy I think this book would be a very fun read. #booksky

The cover of Pests by Bethany Brookshire. The design includes green outlines of animals such as mice, squirrels, cats, wolves, bears and elephants on a black background.

Finished Pests by Bethany Brookshire. An interesting dive into why we categorize some animals as pests, what does 'pest' mean anyway, and what does it mean to live alongside nature. "[Coexistence] is not always painless or easy" #booksky

Well, I have been accepted to grad school for social sciences. But it's very hard to be excited when cuts to funding seem to be on the table even in Canada. I know I might have to leave research upon graduation, and hate the job I worked so hard to get.

The cover of The Great Indoors by Emily Anthes. It features simplistic and abstract art of a house plan, showing pieces of rooms, walls and furniture, with the tagline of "The Surprising Science of How Buildings Shape Our Behavior, Health and Happiness".

After taking my time for like 6 months, I've finished The Great Indoors by Emily Anthes. It read like a collection of short stories highlighting different ideas in indoor architecture, incorporating topics like psychology, climate change, and even colonizing Mars. I thoroughly enjoyed it. #booksky

The cover of The Age of Magical Thinking by Amanda Montell. The cover features a drawing of a blue hand with fingers crossed, the background includes wavy lines of pink, red, yellow and green, drawn in the art style of a vintage 1960s poster.

Read Amanda Montell's The Age of Magical Overthinking. I agree with many reviews, the psych theories could've been explored more, but I loved the rest. I audibly gasped when I swiped the page and saw 'Acknowledgements'. What do you mean there's no more book? Already put a hold for Cultish #booksky

Just read Happy City by Charles Montgomery. Given everything that's happening, I was ready to find out many of the projects in this book are no longer ongoing, but actually many still are, which made me happy.

If you want to know how to make cities better, give this book a read!
