char’s counterattack contains all the emotional beats i love in gundam, even if they don’t land as successfully as they do in other iterations. but that’s the kind of proto-state of what i love about it

tomino describes char’s counterattack kind of as just a job. he was passionate about his story boards and disappointed where the animation didn’t translate his intentions. but then you have directors in the follow up generation,like anno, that totally honed in on those passionate moments as a kid.
