Random thought for the day. MIS (Military Intelligence Service) Japanese-Americans were involved in translating between US and JPN dignitaries but were purposefully left out of photographs on the USS Missouri. MIS Okinawan-Americans were involved in helping Okinawan civilians (1/?)

My last two creations were purple sweet potato "crinkle cookies" and a sweet potato latte. All in all, very fun to make!

I probably should have added more sweet potato in the Latte but the mashed potato (butter, garlic, thyme) was delicious!

Inspired by my friends, I made different things out of purple sweet potato! The left is a latte and the right is mashed potatoes. The color came out so pretty!

Another pair of images my family found were taken in 1981. As a 5th generation (Gosei) Okinawan, I have never known of where my family tomb is or what it looked like. Now I have images of what it looked like before they transferred my great x2 grandpa's remains to Hawaiʻi.

My family was cleaning out my great-grandpa's house and found this amazing set of funeral-related images. I assume this must be of a family member or someone he knew in Okinawa but there was no information/names attached. Top image is interesting because of the chopsticks in the rice and Hajichi.
