My commitment to feminism never wavered, but 35 years later, I wish there were more progress. I worry about the backsliding - on reproductive rights, on overt misogyny & violent speech in social media, the attacks on female-identifying politicians, and the relentless sexualization of girls & teens.

We were not fools - we could see discrimination & unequal treatment everywhere under the veneer of 1980s equality. Reproductive rights were still fragile. But the carnage of Dec 6th shone a light on the destructive power of misogyny and underscored the need for broad societal change in attitudes.

I was 20 & in 2nd yr when I saw my peers targeted & killed in my home city. It's hard to capture the loss of innocence this moment was for many of my generation.

Now we hear the story of the firm’s rise to prominence after former PM Pierre Trudeau joined the firm, described at the time as a local Montreal firm. Other prominent figures joined like Jean Chrétien.
