On only my second year of opening two libraries, I have such a tremendous respect for those folks serving multiple sites. I will do my best and let the needs in front of me dictate my time and energy, but I wish it could be different. Our students deserve better. 😔

I think the best book to give a young reader is the book you think *they* are going to genuinely like. With fiction, I firmly believe focusing on reading great books is less important than becoming a person who thinks of reading as pleasurable.

I have to assume they go away after retirement? I hope?

Over on Reddit someone is asking for science fiction for their precocious young reader and the people there are suggesting books that were old when that kid's grandparents were the same age as the kid, for fuck's sake if you didn't know any SF books from this millennium maybe sit this question out
