03.07.2025 18:49 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Here's a term I've seen a lot lately: "Information-adjacent."
I *love* this. I'm going to to steal it and use it everywhere. I hope it takes off like "truthiness" from Colbert Report.

26.06.2025 23:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have to read all the latest buzz to see if workflow has been redefined. The hardest part of all of this is keeping up with words that have changed meaning!

I should have also said that this is helpful. Thanks for sharing this take on it.
13.05.2025 23:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A-ha! Maybe that's it?! I was always taught that the American Dream was a chance to work for the dream, not that work would guarantee the dream. And if I never got there, all I would have is myself at the end. Would I like what I saw and who I'd become? Would I wish I'd done more?
13.05.2025 23:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've graduated into a recession with every degree I received, yet I still didn't have this mindset. I worried that if I didn't actually learn the skills I couldn't keep a job and my reputation would be ruined. Does no one worry that they'll be exposed as frauds if their grades and work don't align?
13.05.2025 21:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So, yeah, I'm just really struggling with this. What's going on today is so far from my relationship with learning that... I don't even know how to finish that sentence. Is this how it's always been?
13.05.2025 20:14 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Given that approach I didn't feel pressured by arbitrary outside factors. I was endlessly curious. I liked to learn stuff and I felt proud when I did. This meant that I was curious and learning even when there would be no test. Even with no one looking. And I'm sad to find out just how weird I am.
13.05.2025 20:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I got good but not great grades and I always focused on learning. My grandma often told me that it didn't matter exactly when the learning clicked as long as it did at some point. Sometimes the test came before the learning clicked. Sometimes it didn't. My grades typically worked themselves out.

βThe problem is that junior lawyers donβt know how to revise... When they do, they spend their effort tinkering with text in ways that do not fundamentally improve it.β Fortunately, @ivybgrey.bsky.social has a roadmap for how to turn novice legal writers into experts: hubs.li/Q03g_8NH0
23.04.2025 21:07 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for sharing!
Revising can be painful! Especially when you don't really believe it's important and/or you don't leave enough time for it.
I vividly remember the hardest (most important) lessons I learned from working with a good editor. That feedback is invaluable and evergreen.
3. View of Language Rules: Corrective vs. Rhetorical Views of Grammar
4. Cognitive Stance: Intuition vs. Deliberate Metacognitive Reflection
5. Audience Awareness: Writer-Centered vs. Reader-Centered Revision
Get the process and product right.

Here are the 5 shifts in thinking that youβll need to develop #LegalWriting expertise:
1. Process Orientation: Reactive vs. Strategic Revision
2. Depth of Change: Surface-Level Edits vs. Deep Structural Changes
(next 3 in next post)
To become a better legal writer, you must be a better reviser. To do that, you must cultivate new mindsets.
Most people get stuck in an endless loop of surface-level reactive responses to basic questions. They may invest a lot of time, it's just tinkering, so it doesnβt matter very much.
Omg that puppy was so cute! I'm glad you captured that. Plus, it was great to catch up with you.
