A-ha! Maybe that's it?! I was always taught that the American Dream was a chance to work for the dream, not that work would guarantee the dream. And if I never got there, all I would have is myself at the end. Would I like what I saw and who I'd become? Would I wish I'd done more?

I've graduated into a recession with every degree I received, yet I still didn't have this mindset. I worried that if I didn't actually learn the skills I couldn't keep a job and my reputation would be ruined. Does no one worry that they'll be exposed as frauds if their grades and work don't align?

So, yeah, I'm just really struggling with this. What's going on today is so far from my relationship with learning that... I don't even know how to finish that sentence. Is this how it's always been?

Given that approach I didn't feel pressured by arbitrary outside factors. I was endlessly curious. I liked to learn stuff and I felt proud when I did. This meant that I was curious and learning even when there would be no test. Even with no one looking. And I'm sad to find out just how weird I am.

I got good but not great grades and I always focused on learning. My grandma often told me that it didn't matter exactly when the learning clicked as long as it did at some point. Sometimes the test came before the learning clicked. Sometimes it didn't. My grades typically worked themselves out.

The everyone is cheating their way through college article that has been terrifying writing folk all week is so hard for me to wrap my head around. I understand that many people don't care about learning and our systems don't reward it, but I struggle to understand how individuals wound up here.

It's funny because it's true!

I am attempting to write a blog about LLM "reasoning." But every time I catch up on reading the scientific research papers, a new one comes out! Keeping up with generative AI developments is becoming a full time job.

My book club is more like I send you stray emails at 2 AM and you get back to me with your thoughts... whenever. Intense books, chill club.

Revising can be painful! Especially when you don't really believe it's important and/or you don't leave enough time for it.

I vividly remember the hardest (most important) lessons I learned from working with a good editor. That feedback is invaluable and evergreen.

To become a better legal writer, you must be a better reviser. To do that, you must cultivate new mindsets.

Most people get stuck in an endless loop of surface-level reactive responses to basic questions. They may invest a lot of time, it's just tinkering, so it doesn’t matter very much.
