My Jewish grandparents had arrived in Philadelphia from Ukraine 1918-1922, Grandma from the famine in Odessa. So it seems insane that 13 years later people thought it was a good plan to head over for work.

I knew there was interest from famous people, like Paul Robeson wanted to find a less racist country to raise his family in. ( didn’t work out) Had no idea such big numbers tried it too.
