Make masks FIT and FREE! As we experience a record breaking flu surge and the ongoing effects of COVID, now would be a great time to ramp up efforts to make high quality N95 masks free and widely available. Really wish free mask distribution was a regular feature of progressive events for example.

Avoiding retraumatization might sound like a no-brainer for survivors in recovery, but we can be notoriously bad at realizing things that might predictably retrauamatize us until we're in the thick of it. No shame, it happens-- just pay attention & make adjustments going forward.

Pro tip: If you are attending a crowded event in winter, wearing a well-fitting mask like an N95 can serve double duty by keeping your face warm and keeping viruses away.

(yes, transmission can still happen outdoors in crowds or with close and sustained contact to someone who is sick).

PSA: You don’t owe anyone an explanation about the health reasons why you are wearing a mask.

Badgering others about the tools they need to survive is stigmatizing and ableist, and should have no place in decent society.

You do not have to love your past decisions. I don't love mine. But punishing ourselves for them can't un-make them. Shame & harsh self-punishment only increase the chances we'll say "f*ck it" & go all in on more not great decisions.

When someone dies of the flu and you say “what pre existing conditions did they have?”….you’re saying the chronically ill are expendable.

It's helpful when there actually IS a valid and accessible process, unlike the ridiculous barriers in the US process.

Also they're now "deporting" citizens.
