but how's your Nats franchise going?

I used to write about the Caps. And write and podcast about the O's. Now I don't. Sometimes I do stuff here: http://thecaridrive.bandcamp.com/
but how's your Nats franchise going?
25.10.2025 01:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In Vlad's defense, we have no idea how the Maple Leafs would do in this round of the playoffs
20.10.2025 20:25 β π 193 π 32 π¬ 3 π 0on a scale of 1-to-Chris Bourque, how's the internet handling Iorio being claimed on waivers?
17.10.2025 00:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I really like Mayo, but it sure could make the 2026 team better. His 50th percentile outcome as a 1b for 2026 is easier to find elsewhere than the 50th percentile of a Ryan or a similar SP. Buuut, if they are willing to spend the $, they can address the SP in free agency and keep Mayo...
15.10.2025 00:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0how many of these dudes do you think will still be in the org after they trade for Joe Ryan?
14.10.2025 23:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i think they look alright, but both teams wearing dark helmets is tough on my eyes for some reason
12.10.2025 01:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π
12.10.2025 01:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0both teams wearing dark helmets should be outlawed imo
12.10.2025 01:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0if they went and got Cease + Bieber or Gallen , that'd be pretty cool too
12.10.2025 01:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0what exactly are we doing with these blue helmets
12.10.2025 00:59 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Probably Framber because I think Mike just needs to go get the best pitcher available, not the best value available. A risky commitment for sure, but it's time to take that type of risk rather than trying to be the most clever FO in the league
12.10.2025 00:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0til that ryan holiday is still a thing
10.10.2025 23:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0eat arbys
21.09.2025 16:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0100% into this. Given his salary, the main cost in acquiring him would to be payroll. And it's been very noted that this ownership group is well-capitalized so...
20.09.2025 14:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All fair, I don't really disagree. If he'd be willing to take a 3 year deal to cash in, and then hit FA at 31, that's a slam dunk. If he's looking for longer, I start to get skeptical the O's will do it.
Lockout is a great point! Shift some of the $ to a signing bonus would probably interest TR
the longer he keeps this up the less I think he'd be willing to take a deal the O's would do. He's already banked $9.6m and has arb3 next year, so I think there's a decent chance he bets on himself and shoots for a bigger cash in next off-season
19.09.2025 23:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My take might not be hot enough but...I agree the staff deserves plenty of credit for things not going completely off the rails, and Mansolino especially for stepping into a tough spot. And I'd also prefer a different manager/staff next season.
19.09.2025 20:21 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Injuries and the lack of adding enough pitching get a lot of the blame for the O's season. But what Tony's talking about will have a huge impact on the next 3-5 years: was this a down year for a bunch of core guys, or is the core just not as good as they were projected to be?
19.09.2025 10:53 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0wow this lineup is well capitalized
19.09.2025 00:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, maybe I'm misreading what his market will be, but I'd guess there will be cheaper options for similar production. And then Mike can go overspend on a guy who slots higher in the rotation instead of overpaying for a backend guy.
18.09.2025 00:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0with the assumption that any FA pitcher is going to take an offer that's a bit "irrational", no, I'm not interested in paying the FA rate for a guy with his peripherals. If the price were surprisingly low, I guess he's worth a look as long as he's not the only SP they sign.
18.09.2025 00:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0with mayo working hard on his defense and westburg as the glue of the team, there's no stopping this team!
17.09.2025 01:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 010/10
15.09.2025 10:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0haha, that's fair. The 2024 O'Neill then
10.09.2025 23:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's easy to dunk on this but the reality is that a healthy and productive O'Neill would be a huge boost for the 2026 O's, especially because he's a righty bat. Getting him back to potentially close the season with some positive momentum sounds great to me.
10.09.2025 22:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm kind of on the fence on this specific deal, but this is the exact type of trade they need to make: A trade that may be a negative-value over the next 5+ years, but should bring positive value for 2026 and 2027.
08.09.2025 01:52 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah, it's a tough spot because they really need a reliable righty bat who can spend time at 1b/dh. And I'm not sure they can rely on either Mounty or Mayo for that. But with such a long list of pitching needs this offseason, I think there's a decent chance they don't address this externally
02.09.2025 01:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0have we reached the "they should probably tender Mountcastle this off-season" level of pessimism?
02.09.2025 00:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Jeremiah Jackson is the new franchise player
