Common rotation "misake" mis-alignment of the axis being rotated (without reason) a graphic of a box and a head at a straight 3/4 position, being rotated "up" but tilted off to the side with red lines notating the perspective axis that's unnecessarily being changed From heads-on, it looks like this [graphic of a head being tilted up and to one side] and not this [graphic of a head looking up]

When we rotate an object, its points of perspective will move too. A graphic of a box in a perspective grid matching its perspective, with the visible green point of perspective having attention drawn to it with "pay attention to this guy!" In the second graphic, the box is rotated and all the perspective points rotated with it. This box is still fully feasible within hte original perspective grid, HOWEVER the rotation has forced all the original perspective points to shift. The formerly visible green perspective point has completely shifted off the map. See how the points changed?

However! If we rotate an object along one singular axis, that perspective point WILL NOT MOVE a graphic of a box being rotated vertically, with one single axis (the one in red that's perpendicular to the rotation) remaining static and allowing us to place lines along the rotation accurately To put it plainly, if we rotate UP and ONLY UP, one of your 2-3 vanishing points will STAY IN THE SAME PLACE this makes tracking the change in perspective easier.

It's easier and clearer if we keep an axis STATIC a graphic of a box with its 3 axises denoted in red, green, and blue. Below it, three boxes rotated simply, each one overlaid upon a light grey version of the original box, and each one showing the individual effect if we were to rotate the box while keeping one axis static and moving the rest. Below it, a head rotating up in perspective and showing the different made when the axis perpendicular to the action remains static.

Got inspired by the Frieren meme challenge and made a tutorial for rotating objects in 3D! This looks at turning a common rotation "mistake" into an intentional choice.

This is something that those of y'all with 3D experience probably understand pretty well!

That's probably it, yeah :') My brain focuses more on the flow of the movement when drawing action poses thus I can simplify some parts, and it focuses on shapes and anatomy when drawing idle ones

ANOTHER FUNNY THING IS I did the sketch for the character's design, like the clothing and such, in one hour
So I wasted HOURSSSSSSSS trying to get the right pose which got covered by the clean sketch anyway

Being an artist is a nightmare circus

I've been struggling with proportions and shapes for an idle pose for HOURS, ditched it and did an action pose in, like, an hour
And then spent another hour drawing a nose.
Man I should just sit down and study human anatomy 😞

Why are action poses for humans way easier than idle poses...........

Sketches for $45, Inks/Flats for $80, Rendered for $160. 50% of the base price for extra characters, BGs, or highly detailed characters. RULES: - I will never draw hate speech, incest, Attack On Titan, Vivziepop characters, fetish art or hardcore/softcore porn of anyone physically or mentally under the age of 21. - Payment must be made through PAYPAL or KO-FI.
