On July 29th, Regine Eckardt will deliver the Dick Oehrle Lecture, as part of ESSLLI 2025 in Bochum. Her presentation „What Metaphors and Axiomatic Theories (might) have in common“ proposes a novel formal analysis of metaphorical language use.

This week, the 30th conference on Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) took part in Barcelona, Spain ☀️

We welcomes Luise Schwarzer who joined the department on May 05. She is affiliated with Geman linguistics and will research and teach in syntax adjoining areas. Luise passed her PhD in 2022 at the University of Leipzig and held a position at Trondheim NTNU before joining us.Have a good start, Luise!

Carmen Widera and Susan Reichelt will take their seminar on an excursion to Nantes. Students will receive input from the project Atlas social de la métropole nantaise, participate in a guided tour on the relation to water in the city & collect data on language in public spaces related to water

The “International Symposium of Bilingualism" (ISB15) takes place in San Sebastián, Spain, from 9th-12th June 2025. Three of our members will give talks there.

At the same workshop Nicole Dehé gave a joint talk with Ingunn Hreinberg Indriðadóttir (University of Iceland) on “The syntax prosody relation in Icelandic: Focus on V3.”
