You know what would also save 10 mins on an airport trip? Regular and dependable mass transit like light rail, MRT, etc.
Most of us could fit happily on a flat floor tram (etc) to the front door of the airport, saving a lot of traffic on the road for those who do need to drive

Today, it's exactly one hundred years since the opening ceremony of the New Zealand & South Seas International Exhibition in Dunedin.
To celebrate, I'm sharing some images from an original copy of the ceremony's official souvenir programme.

I think you're cool, but not for those bourgeois mainstream ideals, you're cool for much nerdier and perhaps bohemian reasons

St Matthew in the City taken from a different place on the street for a change. The white Εamaru stone tower and the east end are visible poking above the trees. In the foreground, the reason this view is seldom taken, tragic lights.
Another lovely morning of ringing. We had 12 of us, including a welcome visitor from Melbourne. We rang rounds, Plain Bob Doubles & Triples, and Grandsire Doubles.

This is impressive for several reasons. I can't ring full peals anymore, so I'm a little jealous too

Most people love the taste of butter, but these days margarine is standard fair. Certainly more easily spread, more cost effective.
Honestly, IMHO I'd be more excited by fairy bread that I wouldn't notice any of the ingredient specifics

11.11.2025 22:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At what point do we publicly accept that NZ is deeply corrupt and the only reason why we donβt have a culture of direct payoffs and bribery (that we cite as the evidence for us not being corrupt) is because itβs not needed? The boys club gets what it wants through people playing their social roles.

And why arenβt (more) politicians asking this about police?
I mean, you could take out street parking and you'd be pretty sweet. It feels like carving up the whole area just so someone can park on the street. Parking is already fairly tight in the area, but hopefully good quality transit options will resolve that!

Either way, there's the door bitch!
Just had to do some unconnecting on LinkedIn. A German-NZ distinguished professor who I think is mates with Dawkins posted some dumb shit ["will the decolonisers have 'won' when we have university students who don't know the basics of maths?!"] and got "applause" from some colleagues.

He introduced a bill banning discrimination based on sexual orientation in public accommodations, housing, and employment.
