Fancy getting your hands dirty with real life health research??

Why not extract some data from the studies in our review? www.thepeoplesreview.ie/join-now

Plenty of support and help along on the way - no experience needed (in fact those without experience are encouraged to get involved!)

For now, I’ll leave you with the figures from our paper (the prettiest bits!). I do believe this protocol can make a difference - for the public, for students, for educators, for researchers, and for anyone beginning their systematic review journey.

4️⃣ Three generations of my family are co-authors

The People’s Review is open to everyone and I’m very lucky to have a supportive family who got involved. My mam, dad, siblings, and even my granny are listed as co-authors. (Not many people can say they've co-authored with their granny!)

3️⃣ We have 200+ authors

Anyone who contributed to the early stages of #ThePeoplesReview was invited to be an author. We believe people should be recognised for their contribution regardless of their background. Coordinating so many voices was... intense (!), but the protocol is better for it.

2️⃣ It was co-created with the public

This protocol is the product of a global collaboration. People from around the world helped choose the review question & shape how we would answer it. Thank you to everyone who contributed, this work is yours as much as ours.

1️⃣ It’s written in plain English

The People’s Review aims to help everyone understand what systematic reviews are & why they matter. If we want true #OpenScience, we need to communicate in ways people actually understand and we’ve tried hard to make this protocol clear, engaging, and accessible.

Delighted to share the preprint of our protocol from @thepeoplesreview.ie asking whether resistance training makes a difference to quality of life or heart health for older adults compared with aerobic exercise.

They’ve helped shape this project from a tiny spark 🎇 of an idea into what it is today - through deep discussions 💬, big questions ❓ , problem-solving 🧠, and plenty of laughs along the way 🤣

As a team that includes trans and non-binary people we know any criticism we make of Cass will be seen as ideological

This is why we grounded our work in a methodical critique, using established tools

Whilst our identities still matter, this is about the poor and biased application of methodology

Proud to have been apart of this team. Research methodology matters. Policy should be based on methodologically sound research. Our results show the many methodological flaws of the Cass Review. Check it out ⬇️
