and yeah I still get a little caught up in "I hope other people like this too" when I make new art but it's not my end-all-be-all. It's cool to see art do well and get popular but I'm plenty happy with my art even if it "flops". Every time I draw I get a little better and that's what matters to me.

Very real. Art is about self expression and newer artists should focus on that. Followers will come one way or another and if you're passionate about what you create, people will see that. Whether that's drawing fanart, drawing your OCs or any other form of expression, that's what matters most.
