Not directly writing related but I took a leather marbling class tonight and got a cute little journal and journal cover I can swap out for a fresh notebook. Very easy to do. But messy as hell.

So we went through the plot seeds we planted and came across the question, What Happened to Nat's Father?

Thus Akash (her dead dad) became Nat's unfinished business, and we could explore Mara's redemption arc as a parallel story that takes place in East NDB while Nat and Vola are in WEST NDB.

as rule focused as Mara is would not be trying to game church rules the same way Nat did.

So we ditched her as Nat's personal antagonist for "One Bad Tuesday". So we had to replace and rework the story but keep a core moment that happens to Nat. A very important one. (5/?)

The abuse and actions of Mara towards Nat now had roots and reason we could zero on. Guilt she would have over it because of her trauma and mental illnesses. Not justified but identifiable.

So having her stalk Nat, or there being a open window for return to the church. Also that someone (4/?)

we realized she wasn't some stereotype villain and would have to have some redeeming qualities. Otherwise why was Nat with her? Why would Aoife like her?

So we dug down further into Mara as though she was a protagonist. This opened up whole new story that is now Truth to Trauma. (3/?)

So in the original original drafts, there was a way for Excommunicated Aasimar to return, and Mara was a bit more of an evil ex and obsessed with bringing Nat back to "the light". Full brainwashing and all. Then as we got further into the fact that Mara would have her own story (2/?)
