I just learned the other day that you can buy third party memory foam ear-gasket things, but the regular ones don’t bother me quite enough to bother.

Nathan, wishing you all the best on your job search! I don’t have any leads for you, and I don’t have any advice, but sending prayers and good vibes your way.

Came across the phrase "cognitive DDOS" to describe our present culture.

Understood instantly what it meant.

How we rebuilt Next.js with AI in one week One engineer used AI to rebuild Next.js on Vite in a week. vinext builds up to 4x faster, produces 57% smaller bundles, and deploys to Cloudflare Workers with a single command.

porting Next.js for $1100 has... implications for any open source library with good tests meant to bait people to use a paid product

Human interaction is going to shift to discords and group chats, invite-only. The open web and social media are going to be left for the agents lurking amongst the ruins. Everything public will be Moltbook.

It hasn’t fully hit BlueSky yet, but LinkedIn and X are just meaning-shaped comments by LLMs

prefers-reduced-motion - CSS | MDN The prefers-reduced-motion CSS media feature is used to detect if a user has enabled a setting on their device to minimize the amount of non-essential motion. The setting is used to convey to the browser on the device that the user prefers an interface that removes, reduces, or replaces motion-based animations.

Dear developers,
Please respect the reduced-motion preferences of your users.
I'm tired of your websites making me nauseous.
Motion is fun until it makes your users sick.

When creating PDFs, avoid using "Print to PDF." A screen reader user may still be able to access the text of PDFs created this way, but heading structure, alternative text, and any other tag structure will be lost. Using "Save As" or "Export" can preserve these tags.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022

Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

Your Ring camera can scam passing dogs and compare them to databases of missing dogs and that’s heartwarming and there are absolutely no sinister implications that’s why the guy in the button-down and Dockers is soothing

My Second Brain Never Worked. Then I Gave It a Gardener. - Rob Dodson I could never maintain a second brain. Then I pointed Claude Code at my Obsidian vault and let it do the organizing for me. Now I'm writing again.

Lately I've been using Claude Code with Obsidian as a thinking partner and I've found the experience really rewarding. It's helped get me back into writing and get excited about capturing ideas again. Did a little write up on my setup.

It is clear to me that LLMs are the new generation of programming language, the biggest paradigm shift in SWE since assembly β†’ 3GLs.

The parallels and differences are fascinating.

Take interpreted vs compiled. Previously a property of the *language*, now a property of the *program*.
