Definitely agree about it being hard to generalize. The country is fundamentally so big that there'll always be exceptions. And I'm a big fan of America's food culture in general.

But I feel like if we accept that there's any validity to generalizations at all, the 'bad bread' one is justifiable 😂

As a German, living in suburban New England, the bread claim is absolutely true. My local grocery stores do largely have in-house bakeries but their output is absolute garbage.
