A square image of a tiny blue bottle. In the bottle and hanging down over it are four blue and white flowers. The flowers are drooping because they are dying. They are doing so very gracefully. I love dead and dying flowers as much as the live ones. They do not decline they evolve.

Beautiful photo

A landscape oriented image. Taken from the top (120 metres) of High Tor in Matlock looking down towards Matlock Bath. The A6, looking tiny, runs right to left diagonally through the image, dotted along it are a few houses, mist hangs along its length. Two thirds in it turns a bend a disappears. Spreading beyond it are the wooded sides of the valley beyond. A mist laden plateau is in the top left corner tinted orange by the rising sun.

Very true. It’s an exercise I’ve recently embarked on for a new project 📷

Framing the View A landscape oriented image. The frame is filled with a variety of trees, all moving into their autumn colours. A deciduous tree holds us in on the left and a tall redwood on the right. Across the bottom is a small strip of grass and above some lovely red leaves shrubs. Central in the image and the main focal point is an old stone arch. It’s one of the arches that leads into the maze in Chatsworth gardens.

The Great Conservatory A landscape oriented image. Three large trees in their autumn splendour virtually fill the frame. Two on the left and one on the right, their shadows starch away from us diagonally left to right on the ground. The composition is taken from low down in order to see below their canopys. Between the trees in the distance is the Great Conservatory. A wonderful building in Chatsworth gardens.

Secret Garden A landscape oriented image. The main focus of the image is a Japanese Maple, its vibrant red in colour. The trunk runs up left side of the frame and the branches arch across the image until they reach another acer on the right. A path runs into the image down the centre of the image, working as a lead in line.

Rose Garden A stitches panoramic image. There is quite fence fog which isolates the subject of the image. The rose garden at Chatsworth. It sits centrally boarded by two tightly clipped yew hedges. Stone columns run across the front and topiary yews within it. A beautiful old stone building sits at the back. To the far side of the rose garden, just outside of it, is a splendid holm oak vibrant orange even in the fog. A couple of other trees can be made out in the background but nothing else because of the fog.

A landscape oriented black and white image. It’s in a fairly dense woodland and the frame is filled with trees other than a small strip of bracken and grass along the bottom. On the left third is a multi stem tree. It’s quite young and very tangled in its growth, there are branches in all directions. It’s a deciduous tree of some sort, we’re in winter so there are no leaves. The background trees are predominately pine. We can’t see the tops of any of the trees. It’s a little misty and quite atmospheric.

Autumn in the garden at Chatsworth House. A path leads into the image and under a splendid Japanese Maple tree that frames the left side of the image and arches over the path. It’s wonderful shades of red and the sun is bursting through its upper leaves. Either side of the path is foliage and the path is speckled with the red leaves of the Maple.

I’ll be sad when all the beautiful autumn leaves have fallen, but not for long as then I’ll be hoping for frost and snow.

I love the reflections in the car.

A landscape oriented image. On a diagonal coming in from the right hand side is a waterfall. It’s a shallow fall, tumbling down over a series of drops. The water is brackish and has a backdrop of dark flat rock. The rock, very flat, leads further into the image eventually meeting trees whose branches hang down and touch the rocks. The trees are all beech and their leaves are a vivid orange. These trees fill the top third of the image.

The top third is a cloudy sky in the morning blue hour. Between sky and beach is a sliver of sea. Coming in from the left up near the sea is a lady dog walker in a red jacket with an alert black dog with a very upright tail on her heals.

Thank you, I do love the blue hour

I couldn’t resist it Sarah, the autumn colours on the old shed made such a beautiful little tableau 🍂

Looking out over Derwent Water during the AM blue hour. Running into the photo from the right hand corner is a sheep fence with pond weed hanging from it, or finish’s two thirds into the image and towards the left side. The water is choppy but smoothed due to the long exposure. Catbells runs from right to left to a little beyond the central point, we then have the so called Jaws of Borrowdale. I’m not sure about the range coming in from the left. The image is topped with a fairly dramatic cloudy sky. Two small islands sit in the lake either side of the end of the sheep fence.

Early Morning Sun on Acer and Cherry 🍁

I couldn’t resist going out into the garden this morning to soak up the display these two beautiful trees we’re putting. An overload of autumn splendour.

The image was taken in the Victorian prison in Lincoln. It is one of the cells that were approximately 2 metres x 3.5 metres. At the far end is a small, high up and bared window, on the left hand side is the black cell door, standing open, slung across the cell are three hammocks right down at floor level. The brick walls are white washed. What a tiny depressing place for three people to live.

The image was taken in a forest. In the foreground on the right is a silver birch, we’re standing too close to see top of it. On the left and further back are three more birch reassessing out of the image. Between them is a sapling, a conifer or a spruce (apologies for not knowing) it stands out as it’s golden amongst the bare trunks of birch.
