Live in Northamptonshire. Too many interests. Beer, pubs, coffee, books, medieval crosses, listed bridges, Grade 1 listed buildings, sport. Very left wing but that’s not for here necessarily but it tells you I’m a nice guy.

It’s my eldest daughter’s 21st so we went for a drink (or two in my case) at The Malt Shovel. Her Guinness was on the house which was a lovely touch.

You missed the Yardley Hastings post. Hope you didn’t have to battle the regulars to get to the bar.

For a number of reasons I’ve not been to the pub this month until now. Enjoying a couple of brown bitters with the cricket in The Vaults Stony Stratford.

Don’t think England will lose but appears they are playing Nepalling.

Those prices for two thirds are very out of kilter.

A couple of quid well spent at Heyford Books.

I imagine it’s really buzzing on the day. Might give it a go one year.

Four in the town centre. Four in Duston (ish). Three in Kingsthorpe I reckon.

GBG26 Pub 43. Boat. Whittlesey. On the surface a nice place but my Elgoods Gold was a bit dodgy and the Labour MPs banned poster behind the bar is childish. Busy and the landlord(?) appeared nice but…

GBG26 Pub 42. Letter B. Whittlesey. I’ve never been to Whittlesey. Wanted to see the market cross and come here. ‘‘Twas the week after the Straw Bear. Nice pub. Excellent Ossett pale. Friendly dogs. A winner.

GBG26 Pub 41. Cross Keys Kings Cliffe. First time visit. Impressed. Sunday lunchtime and the food was good. Three to four real ales. Looks like a lot of rotation. I had a pint from Tydd Steam. Friendly staff. Lovely village too by the way.

No. It’s only this weekend although of course pubs are for life😀. Good to see the lesser known venues included. Hopefully it’ll encourage footfall and more choice.

GBG26 Pub 40. Princess Alexandra Northampton. Surprised this is in the guide. Real ale seems a bit of an afterthought. Usually one or two mostly local. My Potbelly was fine.

GBG26 Pub 39. Garibaldi Hotel. Northampton. Glad to see Great Oakley Delapré Dark on the bar in this pub which livens up late evenings. Less beery than when it opened but it’s good.

Yes. It’s all very strange. My understanding is that happened more or less the same week they took over Beer Guerrilla. At first BG was just their beers. Now it’s all guests suggesting 3H aren’t brewing. Very sad. I loved their beers. Andrew and gang are great blokes too.

Aldwincle in Northamptonshire was previously two parishes hence two churches. The redundant one just outside the current village has the war memorial. The in use one has the listed old cross. Both churches are Grade 1 listed.
