The Trump administration has scrubbed information about HIPAA protections for reproductive rights from the Department of Health and Human Services website.

Back in 2023, I started warning about a new anti-abortion talking point: 'coerced' abortion.

Republicans were getting walloped on the issue at the polls, so leading antis started recommending that lawmakers change course.

I like projects that create knowledge and put it where anyone can have it, these days. iNaturalist. Merlin and the Cornell lab behind it. The whole Wikipedia outfit. Idk it just seems nice to directly and unapologetically document and detail what happens in the world. 🌿💚

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

Project 2025 was the WORST book I read last year and this book-to-life adaptation is as vile as I imagined it to be

They made it worse by adding the Elon technocrat character. You can tell the intended audience has terrible media literacy when they have to add a literal nazi to make it clear the ruling regime in the book is fascist. But some people still probably don’t get it.

GLP-1 agonists being a good treatment for schizophrenia is so freaking weird.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.
