Deep reading is an absolute joyβgood for mind and spirit. Also, a competitive advantage for knowledge workers.
-Hardcopy book
-No digital devices nearby
-Pen for underlining, jotting down thoughts
-Notebook to collect ideas that pop into mind
-At least 30 min
Like a muscle.
Unpopular opinion: I know it's cool to wear your earbuds and carry a book while pasting a disinterested, don't-talk-to-me expression on your face, but I like to talk to the person sitting beside me on airplanes. I liked it when we were willing to be inconvenienced by strangers.

π² Did you know that there's an estimated 18,500 bicycle trips per day to and through Center City?
This Earth Day, check out our new StoryMap, "Cycling in Center City," that highlights the impact that cycling has in facilitating a functional, viable, safe and attractive Center City. bit.ly/3Y8ciKC

Remember, Paris wasnβt βalways this way.β
Not that many years ago, Paris was choking in car traffic. And it wasnβt a safe place to ride a bike for transportation, so not many people tried.
This is new. This is a result of deliberate vision, and bold leadership.
Cities are a result of choices.

Our compact, walkable downtown can only exist because transit allows visitors, residents, and employees to be concentrated in a small geographic footprint that would be physically impossible to serve with private vehicles alone.

And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know⦠And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And, we're not supposed to dance at all anymore.
Being a dancing animal and seeing some great looking babies is good for the soul, the body and the high street! βHappy Citiesβ @charlesincities.bsky.social is a great read.
