Yesterday was about saving jobs. It was also a moment that commanded the nation's attention. Some thoughts from me on the importance of such moments of drama in modern political communication. blairmail.substack.com/p/attention-...
13.04.2025 09:58 β π 8 π 3 π¬ 4 π 4The figure shows there is consensus among both adults from low-income and highincome households that NHS hospitals and GP services are the top two priority areas for additional funding. But there are also notable differences in priorities by household income, particularly around the police, adult social care, schools, and early education. Households with annual income of less than Β£35,000 prioritise additional funding for the police and adult social care above other services including schools and early education and childcare. By contrast, it is the opposite with households with income of Β£35,000 and above, who prioritise additional funding for schools and early education and childcare over the police and adult social care.
What are the public's priorities for additional funding?
There is strong consensus for more health spending - but differences arise when it comes to other services.

29.03.2025 20:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So delighted to be selected for Edinburgh Eastern, Musselburgh and Tranent. I cannot wait to get to work with the excellent Labour team of MPs, MSPs, Councillors and of course our dedicated activists. Thanks to everyone who supported me.
29.03.2025 19:46 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 2 π 2I'm so proud to be supported by four incredible trade unions: Community, GMB, Unison, and Usdaw. All do amazing work fighting for their members, and I can't wait to stand alongside them should I be lucky enough to be selected tomorrow.
27.03.2025 20:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Honoured to be nominated by the Co-operative Party. The party plays such an important role in our movement, and I can't wait to campaign alongside fellow co-operators to win for Labour in 2026.
27.03.2025 16:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Proud to be endorsed by Ruth Elliott. As a former Scottish Greens activist, Ruth knows how important the climate emergency is to voters across Edinburgh. This is one of my top issues, and I'm honoured that Ruth has put her trust in me to champion our environment in the Scottish Parliament.
26.03.2025 18:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Overwhelmed to have the support of my home CLP, Midlothian North and Musselburgh! Thank you to local members for their nomination. πΉ
25.03.2025 21:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So proud to be endorsed by Margaret Curran. She has been a fantastic mentor and friend to me over the years. She was an exceptional MP,MSP,and Minister, and has done incredible work mentoring female politicians in other countries. I can't wait to be campaigning with her again in Musselburgh soon!
24.03.2025 18:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whilst there are a number of great programmes to encourage women into politics there is very little support for women further along in their political journey. Women dropping out just as big a problem as women not coming forward at all.
23.03.2025 18:32 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you to Daniel Coleman for his kind endorsement. Daniel was a brilliant campaign coordinator in Edinburgh Northern and Leith CLP. I look forward to working with him on the campaign to win back Edinburgh from the SNP in 2026.
23.03.2025 18:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tracy Gilbert MP, Foysol Choudry MSP and Cllr James Dalgleish pictured with Labour Party activists on Hillside Crescent, Edinburgh
Great turnout for our Edinburgh-wide campaign day!
Fantastic to be out in Hillside, Edinburgh - fond memories of my first flat there.
Out with the amazing local Labour team Tracy, Foysol and James, and activists speaking to voters about the change a Scottish Labour government can bring.
Proud to be endorsed by Jonny Alvarez-Buylla, an outstanding chair of Edinburgh Labour Students. Students were key to our win in Edinburgh East and Musselburgh last year, and I look forward to working with Jonny on the issues facing students in our city.
22.03.2025 16:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you to Edinburgh Labour Students for inviting me along to talk about my political journey and my roles working in a think tank and for politicians. Really enjoyed meeting everyone and feel confident they will all make a fantastic contribution in 2026 and beyond!
19.03.2025 20:38 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Delighted to receive an endorsement from Anne McCluskey. Anne is not only a tireless campaigner but a selfless champion of other women, encouraging and mentoring them.
I'm grateful for her support and her encouragement of me over the years.
Grateful for the support of Christine Megson MBE, a champion for women in politics and the founder of the Fabian Womenβs Network Mentoring Programme. Her work has helped so many women find their political voice, and Iβm honoured to have her endorsement.
19.03.2025 08:30 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Delighted to have the backing of Ferhan Ashiq, an amazing local businessman in East Lothian who knows the challenges our high streets and small businesses face across the area.
17.03.2025 19:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Very busy afternoon talking to members in Tranent - thanks to everyone who took the time to chat. We finished in time for the Rugby starting π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ π and caught a glorious East Lothian sunset on the way home
